Haitian Cannibals
Washington, Nov. 16 —
American marines after being
put to death by torture, were
eaten by Haitian bandits, H. M.
Pelkingtun, • of New York,
charged today before the senate
investigating conditions in the
island.
Instances of canibalism cited
by Pelkinson were that Private
Lawrence, a marine, who was
tortured to death and his body
eaten, and Lieutenant Muth,
whose body was eaten after he
hai oeen slain.
Georgia to Be Divided
Into Four Prohibition
Areas
A new plan of enforcing the
prohibition amendment will in
clude dividing the State of
Georgia into four areas in which
a separate unit of officers will
work, it’is announced by F. C.
Dismukes, State prohibition di
rector. Savannah will be head
quarters for one of the groups,
it was officially announced, and
it was unofficially announced
that Atlanta, Columbus and
Macon would be headquarters
for the other three groups.
A force of officers will be
divided between the districts in
the new plan, supplanting the
eighteen officers that operate
under the general direction of
one headquarters* None of the
heads of.the areas has been
announced.
