Me, KnM’Oa; Allow me to speak
a few words itftlm columns of your
paper in regard to the future of our
grand democratic, party. I, would
like to bo informed by some intelli
gent man, who lias gone into the
Third party, Ills reasons for doing it?
Jt is an cvcdcut fact that it is more
diffletllt every year for the poor me
chanic, farmer and laborer to earn
Ids living, while they gaze with open-
eyed wonder and astonishment at tiie
Hull,
Will yon persist in selling your
souls into bondage, when you have
within your grasp the grand future
for which you have yearned for
years ?
Will you desert your party now,
when victory and reliot is almost in
sight, for a now scheme lo extort
from you your labor and add more
suffering to your families ?
Ask your Third parly leaders if,
in llieir election, they will ndvanoo
the price of cotton and corn, and
diminish the taxes? And heaven
save them from uttering a falsehood
in reply!
Ask them to stop and think if they
nro not making promise after prom
ise, all to Ii(i broken j yea, promises
which they cannot hope to full HI) ?
In the language of our great
Magna Cluirtu, “We hold these truths
to Im self evident, that all men are

dowed iiy their Creator witli certain

Drndonee, indeed, will dictate for
tho welfare of tho people, and all
experience will show, that tho repub
lican parly is one seething mass of
corruption, blood-KUokors in the slifiijie
of liiunmi beings, glorying in the ex

sort to cover tip their abuses and
usurpations of power, and their sure
Intention of destroying those uu-

Constitution,
I am not an expert at looking Into
Iho future, hut the past loom:; tip like
a grunt harrier, so largo that the
most, ignorant and ja\y horn can see
and understand, mill that is why I
would like for some one ef the new
party to tell me why they have des-
serted llill pill, that lint! opposed the
oppression of the republican party
for years and saved the people from
many indignities and outrages that
otherwise would have been heaped
upon them ?
Thirty years ago we laid no mill
ionaires mid to-day, after this short,
period of lime, we can number them
tip in the thousands, l'lcnse explain
through these columns How a man
ran, in a few year, accumulate mill,

them honestly ? Yon can readily
answer, no I Tho legislation of tho
republican party has made it possi
ble for hut) to steal your labor, im
pose a heavy tariff tax on everything
you consume, and rob you of your
guaranteed rights.
Now, friend, stop and think! Are
you going to desert our good old
pm ly mid weaken in. power to oppose
radicalism and oppression ? Hod for

see the ootiveo you aro pursuing they
would bo dismayed and astonished,
Then, for tho sake of justice and
liberty, for tho sako of nil that is good
and true, omni out on diction day

COLQUITT COUNTY.
A Villi to tho Itannor Plney Wood* Comi
ty of Him fttnto.
In company with Mr. G. W. In
gram this scribe left Sparks, located
on the Georgia Southern and Florida
railroad, Wednesday, August 11th,
for the good old county of Colquitt.
We stopped that night with that
royal gentleman, Mr. A, H. Asbcll,
and found him to he a clever, good
man. I am sorry to state, however,
that lie has liecn besieged by third
party people until lie believes he wili
soon lie where lie will have to live on
syrup mid corn bread, mid tho only
source of relief is the new born po
litical babe. He says an educated
third party man told him that the
democratic party had boon sapping
tbu farmers for years; lie is so com
pletely Itowildercd and misinformed
that lie may vote in favor of tho He-
publican Aid Society. f labored
with him mid succeeded in getting
him to confess lie had been misguid
ed, but I fear when tho time comes
to vote for tlic great mid good Grov
er Cleveland and bright lien Bussell
he will not even go to tho precinct
polling placo.
Thursday morning wo wont to
Hopewell church, in Colquitt county,
where Messrs, Ingraft and Scarboro
were conducting a singing school.
There we formed tho acquaintance
of many of the good people of the
neighborhood and remained witli
theft until Sunday afternoon—enjoy
ing the hospitality of Messrs. Hicks
and Simians. The first of those gen
tlemen is an excellent farmer who
hah gone off witli iho third parly
contingent, while tho latter is ns good
a farmer and a rock-ribbed democrat
—behoving that party will givo tho
farmers all necessary relief when it is
afforded an opportunity, liotli are
good men nnd hospitable citizens.
We went to church at Hopewell
on Sunday morning and listened to
a good sermon from Kov. Mitchell
Hancock, tlum turned our faces
homeward. Wo dined with a Mr.
Hycfiuld. Night overtook us at the
homo of Mr. I'b K. Crosby, of the
liiver Head neighborhood of Berrien
county, where wo remained until
Tuesday. Then we proceeded to
tiie home of Mr. T. J. Flowers whore
wo stopped until Thursday morning.
Thursday WO returned Ur Sparks',
lint Friday morning we started on a
long (rip through Cohpntt county to
Pleasant Hill church just across tho
line in llrooks county whore a large
singing class was being taught by
Profs. Crosby and Turner. The
church is located in ono of tho host
communities in this whole section.
Tho citizens, with several of whom J
became acquainted, are hospitable
mid clever. The large number of
people present represented botli
counties-— llrooks and Colquitt. Thu
(1.IZISTTK has many friends and. ad
mirers in this section. We left the
singing early enough Saturday after
noon to go twelve miles to tho home
of Prof. Crosby, in Hen-inn county,
ip time for supper and lodging. -It
is at this hospitable home I write this
screed.
Colquitt arid lie will get a big majoity.
in the county at tho election.

Tiie crops of Colquitt county aro
generally good and especially the
corn crop. The recent heavy rains
luivo greatly injured cotton. *
*
* «
A large number of the farmers of
Colquitt county did not plant any
cotton this year, confining their oper
ations entirely to food crops.

Political Melange.
In tho territory through which we
traveled there aro quite a sprinkling
of Third partyites. 'Fills condition
of political affairs shows clearly tiie
fuel that tho demagogues who crept
into tiie farmers’ alii nice organizat ion
— for no other purpose hut to l ido it
into place and power—ha$ sowed
tile seeds of political discord most
energetically, and there is no telling
what, di.uwtor they would have
brought to tiie domoeratie party had
they not got up a wrangle among
themselves over a division of the
olllces.

Colquitt is tiie banner wiregrnss
bounty of Georgia in the diversity of
its resources, in a clover mid progres
sive citizenship, healthful climate
and fertile soil j in fact, everything
that goes to make up a. desirable
section lo live in. ltut what is bet
ter, this good, old county is now un
dergoing n most rapid development
nnd the people are looking Well
after the mental, moral mid religious
training of the rising generation.
Tift future of tiie comity hears a
roseate hue.

The writer heard many oomph-
ment* passed upon tiie democratic j
nominee for congress, Hen. Hen. K'
Hiissallj by the honest ymimiin’ of
Can any democrat, after reading
Weaver’s record on our third page,
cast a ballot for him to be president
for the next four years.
tho third party candidate
for pnntjpht, declines to meet Turn
er, Crisp, Atkinson, or any of the
democratic giants of Georgia in joint
debate. He knows full well the
disastrous result to his campaign.
The time is here when voters must
get off of tho political fence; they
must be either third partyites, repub
licans or democrats. Then choose
ye, tliis day, to whip of thoso parties
yon will give your allegiance.
Thousands of colored voters are
declaring their determination to vote
for Gov. AV. J. Northern These
with the solid democratic” vote of tiie
State, will roll up tho largest majori
ty for him ever polled for a governor
in Georgia. Where, oli where, will
Deck appear after tho election ?
It is remarkable that in every
county tints far heard from tiie dem
ocrats have not failed in endorsing a
prominont, well known party leader
and a worthy roprosentutive. It is
certain in nearly every county, too,
that those democratic nominees are
going to bo elected over all opposi
tion.
