beyond recognition, but the charred
remains were gathered together and

ing ly-Ty—at the Hillsdale crossing

left tlie train mid carried Lee’s va

Lee reported tlie matter to Consta
ble G miter at Ty-Ty, but continued
his journey to Potihm saying lie
Would return on the early morning
train. The officer immediately set out
in pursuit of the parties whom lie hud
no (rouble in locating anil, after a
stubborn reslsienee, arresting. He
curried them to Ty-Ty aud confined

a strong guard. Justice Butler wus

Tlie next day being Sunday and the
following day Cliristmus holiday the
preliminary trial was sot for Tuesday
morning and the prisoners remanded
to the county jail for safe-keeping.
In the moan time Uonstubje Gunter
instituted a search for the valise. It
was found in a jamb of the fenoo be-

One of tlie most brilliaut weddings
that Tifton has ever witnessed was on
the' occasion of the niurriage of Mr.
Ja>iEs Sewaiu) Lott, of Shepherd,
Coffee connty, and Miss Sarah J.
LckE,of ‘ frwinville, Irwin county,
which occurred at the Afetliodist
cliurch in Tifton on Tuesday eveniug
December 26tb, 1893, 6:30 o’clock.
The occasion had'beon the topic
of the city for some days prior to the
con8uination of the happy event. The
young Indies of Tifton, and friends
of the high contracting parties, had
the church beautifully docdrutakcrjl
evergreens,-vyhich,glistened in the
bright motui light and made the
church have the appearance of a ver
itable fairy-palace.
Dr. John A. Peterson and Mr. Ju
lian A. Cole performed the responsi
ble duties of ushers, and the cliurch
was filled to its utmost capacity with
people eager to witness the solemn
vows which should blend two lives
in one, long before the hour for the
ceremony.
Rev. George B. Culpepper; who
hud been selected to officiate, was on
hand promptly und took his position
within the altar, At 6:25 tlie bridal

which pealed forth from the Organ
