Mr. ud Mrs. J. T. Sutton, of Tif-
ton; Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hooks, of
Omega, and Mr. Jehu Sumner, of
Ty Ty. took a two days* trip down
through the scenery of South Geor
gia and the northern-western part of
Florida.
We didn't sec much until after
we went through Thomasville. First
*e saw the homes of the Northern
millionaires, beautiful homes and
lawns, their splashing fountains,
stately trees, ornamental fencing,
beautifully kept shrubbery; pret
ty, well kept grounds, hedged-drive-
ways, curious looking buildings,
One looking horses, costly automo
biles, liveried servants, pastures of
blooded cattle, kennels of dogs,
droves of Shetland ponies, pretty
poultrymnd every, crows :lose to
their rosidenceylajparenUy docile.
And the farther on down we got
the highway was edged on both
sides by gigantic oaks, whose sweep
ing limbs spread out majestically,
whipping at the crisp breexe and
ever delaying it in its cutting
pranks. There were cedar trees,
hickory and big, rusty °'d cypress,
and the woods were pretty, too.
There we saw rolling hills, fertile
valleys; then flats of marsh and ex
panses of water.
Thire were the darkey women,
too. and s>me of them plowing the
old bow. as we dall them (the good
old ox). We visited the ammonia
lake, whose vast waters spread a
distance of twelve miles, and a
breadth of one. »nd to three and:
four. The wtoter was covered with
ducks of various colors, swimming
and ducking their heads as they gnth
ered for their breakfast the foo.1

ermen. toiling for the finny tribe of
