victim*, lay tothe hospital today following a night of terror, and
five other* were killed to a ga* attack. Doctor* are working
feverishly on the hospital case*.
With the French Army in France, Feb. 26—(By Henry
Wood. U. P. Staff Cor.)—Along the entire Western front from
the junction with the Brituh to the SwU* border, the French ar
mies are now delivering terrific attacks, day and night- The
time will soon come when the German* will either begin or call
off their long advertised offensive.
The present raid* are different from those of last winter,
being prepared on a small scale, with immense artillery concen
tration- As a result ofthese tactics, a single raid last week
yielded over 500 prisoners.
Washington, Feb. 27—Government control of the fertili
zer industry was ordered by President Wilson last night in a
proclamation requiring manufacturers and distributors to
obtain license from the Secretary of Agriculture on or before
March 20. Authority for the act is contained in the food
control law.
Washington, Feb. 26.—An insiduous. treasonable propa
ganda is being conducted in this country to produce dissatisfac
tion among the people and secure a German-made peace, Sen
ator Swanson, of Virginia, charged today in the Senate, after
bitterly attacking Germah war practices-
Washington, Feb. 23.—The second big draft will be made
in June according to present plans, was learned from an autho
ritative source at the Provost Marshal-General’s office today.
Unless an emergency arises, no nation-wide call for men
will be made on the second draft. The present plan provides
for a continuous stream moving into the camps and from the

The Teachers’ Institute was held
st the court house on Saturdsy and
opened promptly at 10.30. It was a
fine day and quite a number of the
teachers were present.
Miss Sallie Mae Prine gave a short
talk on. “What I Am Doing for the
Improyement of My School.'
Scientific Measurements of School
Products, was discussed by Prof. M
L. Duggan, itural School Agent for
Georgia. He also pointed out the
best method for teaching reading,
which was very beneficial, especially
to young teachers.
A silent test in reading was given
the teachers by Mr. Duggan. It was
a test in accuracy and rapidity also.
Dr. Bradley, who is connected
with the Children's Federal Bureau,
and is at present conducting Chil
dren's Health Conferences in this
county, gave an interesting talk on
Thrift and Conservation, especially
of human lives, and stressed the
fact that it was very important Ld
conserve all the lives possible, as n
