Mr B F Kelley, Springfield, 111.
“A year ago j began to be troubled
with my kidneys and bladder, which
grew worse untill I became alarmed,
at my condition. I suffered also with
dull headaches and the action of my
bladder was annoying and painful.
I read of Foley Kidney Pills and
after taking them a few weeks the
headaches left me, the action of my
blddaer was again normal, and I
was free of all distress.”—Johnson

Straight Paths.
“Make straight paths for
feet.” Heb 12:13.
Life is a pilgrimage, life is a
journey, not to be made on a
railway train, an automobile nor
an airship, neither by any other
easy mode of travel • but in all
Bible teaching, the figure rep
resents the traveler on life’s
pathway, as a pedestrian, one
traveling on loot as our Savior
really did, often becoming tired,
wearied as when he sat lor a
little rest on Jacob’s well at Sy-
char.
But whether we spend our time
riding or perchance in an aero
planeflying with unlimited speed
yet the fact remains, we are in
the loot path of life, making our
journey lrom the cradle to the
grave, each day we pass by
scenes, encounter difficulties and
meet opportunities all of . v/hich
we shall face no more in life,
for it may be truly said of each
one of us ; we 6hall not pass this
way again : and what is true
also ol every one, we are to
make our way through life,
make the paths lor our own feet,
while we may arid do have the
light of divine truth to guide us,
and the holy spirit to comfort
us, yet it remains for each one
to make his own path, and as
he makes it so he must walk in
it, if the child is disobedient and
goes into sin then the feet are
gone in crooked paths, and how
soon the wandering child is lost
in the trackless waste and desert
of sin, and exposed to the enemy
Satan who is constantly as a
roaiing lion seeking whom he
may devour. Therefore we are
warned to % make straight Jpaths
for our feet. How much then
we need to learn just how to
make these straight paths.
1st By cultivating in our
hearts, the principles of love and
duty, love the right and do it be
cause it is right for to learn what
is right is preparing a straight
path lor our le< t, and to do what
is right is walking in that way,
this is true wisdom, and none
are truly wise who neglect the
study ol the life of Jesus and his
words of counsel and warning.
2d To make straight paths
for our feel, means for us to put
ourselves in the way of
gospel reaching, and not to
be over careful for worldly pleas
ures, nor too anxious for all thats
new, either of styles or custom*
and more especially in regard
to our worship, lest we be de
ceived by appearances and lose
the joys found only in the spirit;
but “Ask for the old paths where
is the good wav and walk there
in, and ve shall find rest to your
souls ” Jer 6:i6,
3rd How often do children
and older people too make their
lite path crooked by acts of un
kindness toward others, for some
times a word, only a word may
pierce a heart with sorrow and
may be the turning of a whole
life out of a straight path of
duty: how careful should we be
in the use of our won * remem
bering that a soft answer turneth
away wrath; but grievous words
stir up anger.
4th Finally our Savtor uses
the same figure in his discourse
on the judgement speaking ol the
two ways, he says “Enter ye in
at the straight gate, for wide is
the gate and broad is the
way that leadeth to destruc
tion and many there be which
go in thereat, for straight is the
gate and narrow is the way that
leadeth unto life, and few there
be that find it.”
Now this little sermon must
close hoping that every child
may remember, all are pilgrim
travelers through life, and as
we make our path, so we must
walk in it, whether it be a
straight path leading to the good
or the crooked path of sin, lead
ing to the bad. “Gently Lord,
O gently lead us through this
lonely vale of tears.
