Registration Law Alright.
Commenting on the registra
tion law as it affects Spalding
County, The * Griffin Daily
Herald very adequately express
es the situation in this county.
The registration law is alright
so lar as Spaulding county is
concerned. No white man who
pays his last year’s taxes by the
first ot April this year has been
disfranchised. And those who
did not pay by April the first
are not likely to make any kick
on the law. Practically all the
negroes have been disfranchised,
less than a dozen having iqualu
fied, but the real good the law
Hoke Smith Club Organized
A large and enthusiastic
crowd ot Hoke Smith admirers
of Carroll County met at the
courthouse Tuesday and indors
ed Hon. Hoke Smith lor Gover
nor. A Hoke Smith Club was
organized with Hon. M. R.
Russell as chairman, and C. L,
Boyd secretary.
Talks were made by a num
ber ot prominent farmers of the
county. Committees were ap
pointed to enroll members for
the club in different parts of the
county and instructed to report
within ten days.
A large membership has al

greatly increased in the next
lew days!
will accomplish will appear on j, a. Bledsoe, and C. L
the eve of state election when
the interested parties will,
from force of it, look
about the floater and trading vot*
er , and the fellow who never
has his taxes paid except when
some candidate pays it for him
on the eve of election. The
men who Jhave controlled elec
tions in that manner, naturally
oppose the law. The men who
really lavoi honest elections are
alrriost to a man the lriends of
the registration law.
