CURES.
.SKIN DISEASES
There is an evaporation from the body going on continually, day and
night, through the pores and glands of the skin. This is nature's way of
maintaining the proper temperature of our systems and preserving the soft
ness and flexibility of the skin, and so long as the blood is free from impur
ities no trouble will result. When, however, the blood from any cause
becomes infected with humors and acids, these too must be expelled, and
coming in contact with the delicate fibres and tissues with which the skin is
so abundantly supplied they produce irritation and inflammation, and tlve
effect is shown by Eczema, Acne, Tetter, and skin affections of various kinds.
These impuiities and humors get into the blood through a deranged or
inactive condition ot the system ; the members whose duty it is to carry off
the waste and refuse matter of the body fail to properly perform their work,
and this impure, fermenting matter is left in the system to be absorbed by
the blood. The skin is not only affected by poisons generated within the
system, but poisons from without,
such as Poison Oak, Poison Ivv,
Nettle Rash, etc., enter through the
open pores and glands, and so thor
oughly do they become rooted in the
blood that they are ever present,
or return at certain seasons of each
year to torment the sufferer. Salves,
washes, lotions, etc., cannot cure skin
diseases. True, such treatment re
lieves some of the itching and dis
comfort, and aids in keeping the skin
clean, but it does not reach the real
cause, and at best can be only palli
ating and soothing. A thorough
cleansing of the blood is the only certain cure for skin diseases. S. S. S.,
a gentle acting, safe blood purifier, made entirely of vegetable ingredients
of the forest and field, is the proper treatment. S. S. S. goes down Mito the
circulation, and neutralizes the acids and humors, thoroughly cleansing and
purifying the blood, and curing skill affections of every kind. It supplies
to the blood the fresh, nutritive qualities necessary to sustain the skin and
all other parts of the body, and rids the blooa of any and all poisons. S. S. S.
cures Eczema, Tetter, Acne, Salt Rheum, Poison Oak and Ivy, Nettle Rash,
and all other skin troubles, and cures them permanently' by removing every
trace of the cause from the blood. Special book on Skin Diseases and any
medical advice deaired furnished free to all who write.

Good Advice
Carrollton and Carroll county cer
tainly have the finest, noblest, most
manly set of boys and young men
of any other county in these United
States, and I am no candidate eithe.
There is nothing of God’s creation
that commands my admiration and
esteem more than an open faced,
frank, energetic, sober young man.
There is no guessing at what round
of the ladder he may rise to: there
is no telling as to what eminence and
prominence he may gain. How the
writer does wish that some of the
older men of our county would or
ganize some kind of literary so
ciety, the better to educate and
train these young men in the on
ward, upward march of to-day. One
night of two hours per week would
suffice to enlarge and expand their
knowledge in history, geography and
such things as would be most use
ful. It would pay us in the long run
if we were to hire a competent man
and have him give us lectures once
a week, for then the teacher would
be under obligation to brush up his
own acxqaintance with these studies
and carefully and plainly impart
the learning to his hearers. We
hardly hear of the boys debating
societies these days. Why have they
been abandoned? They were always
a source of learning men and young
met and exchanged ideas on given
questions and each one was always
benefited, if they wanted to be.
| And then if a moral and religious
society could be gotten up where
1 the same would be non sectarian,
but a general knowledge of Gods
precious word be studied and taught
by one who himself has made more
research than we. Yes I am a true
friend to the young people and will
do anything reasonable to help them
upward and onward for our duty is
to be unselfish and assist our fel

Saving Grace.
“By grace are ye saved.” Eph. 2:8
We now come to speak of our
greatest need in life, and we must
not be too quick in our conclusion
as to what that need is, for we
might be greatly mistaken there
fore we must pause a moment and
think, and when we have done this,
it will be plain to us that what we
most need in this life is supporting
grace, or we might say saving grace
for we all know that our greatest
need is salvation, or to be saved
from our sins, and in earnest desire
for salvation, we would know how
this greatest of all blessings comes
to us, then we turn to Eph. 2, and
find written there, “For by grace
are ye saved, through faith and that
not of yourselves it is the gift of
God, here then is the basis of all
true Christian faith and hope.
But some one may ask, what is
grace? well grace is to us the free
and unmerited favor of God that is,
his saving mercy and power in Jesus
given to lost sinners, that by faith
in him we may be saved, and we
shall see that this grace embraces
all that God can give to this world
as it is given to us in the Bible and
in the gospel of Jesus Christ, for in
the word of gospel truth this grace
is so clearly set forth, and so freely
offered that none are denied the
rjehes of this grace given in Christ
as we shall see.
1 For God so loved the world
that he gave his only begotten son
to die, that whosoever believeth in
him might not perish but have
everlasting life, here we see that the
free and divine favor of God comes
to us through our Lord, Jesus Christ
and we receive it as we believe in
him, for in Rom. 5:1 we read “There
fore being justified byjfaith we have
peace with God, through our Lord
Jesus Christ,” hence the truth ap
pears that in our salvation there is
the inseperable union of God and
Christ, for Jesus says, "No man
cometh unto the father but by me.”
John 14:6 and again, “No man can
come unto me exepet the father
which sent me draw him,” John 6:44
So we see that thejpower of saving
grace comes only by Jesus, anc} not
by any legal process, for we read
again that “the law was given by
Moses, but grace and truth came by
Jesus Christ,” Then what a blessing
comes to us through the great sac
rifice made to the world in his con
descending love, "For ye know the
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that
though he was rich yet for our sake
he became poor, that we through
his poverty might be rich." 2 Cor
8:9; how sublime the thought of the
riches of his grace which is assured
to all who ^believe and trust him
made partakers of the fulness of
his grace.
2 Let us remember too, that this
grace is present with us all along
the pilgrimage of life, for when
afflictions and sorrows come and
all human comforts fail, this grace
is promised, saying, "I will be with
thee in six troubles, and in the
seventh I will not forsake thee,”
let us remember also that this spirit
of grace in the Christian’s heart
brings into exercise in our life all
the beautiful graces that distinguish
and adorn the character and life of
every Christian, as love, joy peace,
long suffering, meekness, gentleness
etc are some of the Christian graces
mentioned and how beautiful are
they in the life of every Christian
child and older people as well.
3 Another characteristic of this
wonderful grace is, that it not only
makes life happy and beautiful;
but we are taught that it sustains
us in death as so many have testi
fied that death had no terrors and
as the sweet shepherd psalm ex
presses, "Yea though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil, for thou art with
me, thy rod and thy staff they com
fort me.” Then all .the good we re
ceive in this life and all we hope
for in the life to come is given us
of that all abounding love,
"Grace all the work shall crown,
Through everlasting days;
It lays in heaven the topmost stone
And well deserves the praise."
