26 Are Entitled to Two
Reprsentatives.
Washington, Dec. 12.—Official fig
ures given out by the census bu-
; reau this afternoon indicate that
Fulton, Chatham*, Richmond, Bibb
Floyd and Muscogee counties, in
the order named, will compose the
"Big Six" in the Georgia general
assembly for the next six years.
Each will be entitled to three repre
sentative in the lower house of the
legislature.
The 26 counties entitled two rep
resentatives each are Bartow, Bul
loch, Burke, Carroll, Elbert, Emanuel
Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson, Laurens,
Lowndes, Meriwether, Sumter,
Thomas. Troup, Walton, Washing
.ton, Cobb, Coweta, Decatur, DeKalk,
Houston, Brooks, Wilkes and Clarke.
Thus it appears that Thomas
county has lost her rank ameng
the first six and now is entitled to
only two representatives. Brooks
and Clarke counties have moved
up a peg and are entitled to two
each. Monroe county has lost its
place among the counties entitled
to two members of the legislature.
It may be several weeks before
the census office will give out the
population of the smaller civil
divisions of Georgia, and until this
announcement is f o r t h com i n g
nothing definite will be known of
the rank of the smaller cities and
county sites.—Atlanta Journal.
