For American Men
I don’t blame some men for not
wanting to go home at night, I
wouldn’t either if I had to play se
cond fiddle to a poodle, dog When I
gotthere.
It don’t teke religion to make a
man restore ill-gotten gains, old
time honesty will do that.
You pray until you die, but pray
er doesnt transfer ownership “do you
catch on.”
Some people say “Bro. Bass you
rub the fur the wrong way” “No I
dont just let the cat turn around.”
Some people say they dont believe
in propositions, if you dont, I want
to know how you got married.
Some of you half-hearted Church
members are doing’, more to damn
this town than all the red liquor in
this country.
You say “I dont like the way Bro.
Bass preaches”,well neither does the
devil, and you are so much like him
you dont like it either.
There are people who don’t know
anymore about old Itime regenera
tion, than a pig does about a side
saddle.
One trouble with the Churches is,
today there are so many people in
them who are spending more time
in their social life than they are in
their spiritual life.
Failure oh your part to live right
makes the hard headed business
man question whether he can live
right on a religion that does not
keep you right.
Some of you inactive church
members seem to think you have a
through ticket to Heaven on a Pull
man car and have given the porter
orders to wake you up when the
train heads into New Jerusalem,
you will be side tracted with a hot
box before you get half way.
Men who are not cheap,
and avoid cheapness because
they know it is the most ex*
pensive risk in the long run—
For these men Stein-Bloch
have tailored their clothes
and put into them thought
and money and rightness.
Our Summer Suits are all tail
ored by Stein-Block. We can
show you many styles and they
all fit. Try them on before
our mirrows.

The revival in progress at the
Methodist Church is attracting wide
attention, not for it sensational
character, but because the real work
of grace is going on.
A powerful sermon was delivered
by Rev. Bass, the Evangelist, last
night on the “Call of God” and a
more powerful service was never
seen. Scores thronged the altar* on
invitation from the preacher and at
this single service fifty-one persons
announced by giving their hand to
the evangelist, they had turned away
from sin and intended leading a
Christian life.
As usual, early in the evening
every available seat was taken in
the Church, and the sea of faces
were anxious to catch every word
the evangelist spoke.
Carrollton is visited by an un
usual spiritual awakening, and the
community is affected to the remot
est corner. All classes of people,
from the popular society folks down
to the humblest lad are joining the
ranks for a higher standard of moral
and Christian life.
Some remarkable things are be
ing accomplished, money is being
restored, differences are being right
ed, apologies are being made and
as the evangelist puts it “the real
thing" is going on now,
A noticable feature of this meet
ing is the large attendance at the
day service as well as at night.
The business houses of the town
are closing their doors from ten to
eleven o'clock.
Mr. Stapleton sang for a solo last
night “He lifted me” which was
deeply appreciated and inpressibly
dosed the song with the old hymn
"Yield not to temptation” which
was received with almost breathler
silence in the church.
Rev. Bass will preach to children
and young people Friday at 3;30 p
m., all' ages are urged to attend this
service.
There will be no day service
Saturday, but the usual 7:45 service.
Sunday morning subject, “Heaven
and how to get there” Sunday 3:30
p. m. to men and boys only, subject:
“Cain’s Wife.”
Service at the Baptist Church
at the same hour for women and
girls, led by Mrs. J. M. Bass, who
will reach the city to-night from
Macon.
Workers Council meets in the
Sunday School room at 7 p. m. x

Go home and draw a circle around
you with chalk and say “Lord begin
with the fellow inside the ring."
The man that curses God because
some church member doesn't live
right, is as mean as I would be if
I should slap my wife because you
did something which I did not
prove of.

Say of a Man

speak of him with respect as one who is getting
along in the world.
It is a good thing for your standing to have
money in a bank, and it is easier than you think
