CARROLL COUNTY TO
HAVE A POULTRY SHOW
At a rocent meeting of the Advertis
ing Club a resolution wns passed that
a poultry show be held in Carrollton
some time in the fall. Suitable prizes
will be offered, and all poultry raisers
will be invited to mnke exhibits of their
poultry, and otherwise lond their good
will and encouragement towards mak
ing the show a suce,oss.
The success of this show depends
more upon the co-operation of poultry
/ raisers and the people generally than
any other one thing. No poultry raiser
should lenvo himself or hersolf out.
Everything and everbody should bo in
terested in the show, and take part in
it, by at least visiting the show if notli-
ig more. In no other way can the
show fully represent the county and
territory.
It takes work to develop a good
poultry show. All great and good
things' come through and by good
work. Lot’s start now and have every
poultry raisers, and prospective poultry
miser, begin to prepare to mnke an ex
hibit nt the show. Tho greatest, good
to tho individual exhibitor is the knowl
edge gained while raising and preparing
fowls for the exhibit nnd the thoughts
' anil ideas gained from others. The
next greatest good comes from com
paring his fowls, or her fowls, with
those of others. , Cash prizes will bo
paid winners according to decision of
the judges; but tho promiuV or prize
one gels is a little more than an ac
knowledgement of superiority, and the
further advertising of one’s flock and
variety.
This is to be a big show nnd let s
everybody get bohind tho movement
and pusli it to a big success. ..Many
bauds make light work. Let every one
do something to mnke the show a sac-
cess.

CHEESE FACTORY OUT
IN THE COUNTRY
While Messrs. H. H. Wicks, R. B
Huff and C. M. Garrett were in New
ton county last week they found n
cheese factory out in the country in the
western part of tho county. A few
farmers got, together and formed i
company. They built tho houso nnd
equipped it for work in a short timo.
Thov are now turning out some 200 or
MOO pounds of cxcollent cheese a day.
All of tho clieoso is sold to ncarty towns
and not nhlo to supply the demand
Thov told us they weTO gotting about
if 1,000 in.epmo a month whore tlioy had
been gotting nothing.
Upon inquiry wo lenrned that the cost
..f the buildng nnd entire equipment
ready for making cheeso did not ex
ceed $1500. Tho State College fur
nished a man to plan nnd holp erect
and remain long enough to thoroughly
tench a manager to make the cheese.
From this it seems that not only
one but several in this nnd adjoining
counties should be established.—Bowdoi

He'said: “I should advise any young man to

“He will then not only have the monied capital,
but the ‘backing,’ as it were, of his people.
