Paris, Dec. 45—The new cabinet
arcnses but mederate enthusiasm in
the press. The morning papers point
out that seven ministers and two un
der-secreiaries belong to the preced
ing administration; so that the change
is not so radical as might be expected
At the same time the appearance of
M Claveille and M Loucheur as tech
nical experts is welcomed.
The mcst popular features of the
reorganization are the appointments
of General HHerbert Lyautey as minis
ter of war and General Neville as suc
cossgor to Jogre as commander-in-chief
of the western front.
All of the newspapers print photo
araphs of General Neville urder the
(itle of “cne of the war’s revelations.”
Long biographies are also publ!shed‘,
rccalling the general’s brilliant stroke
in recipturing Douaumont and Vaux
on the Verdun front. The papers also
say ihat the fact that General Neville
is half English—his mother having
belonged to a fell known Kentish
military family—makes his appoint
ment particularly acceptable across
the channel.
Jules Cambon continues in his post
as general secretary of the foreign
office.
