Meetisos in Ist Baptist Church. —
An interesting prayer meeting is being held
in this church, every morning, at 8 o’clock,
and services every night.—The citizens gen
erally are cordially invited to attend, and
the members of the church are all most
earnestly solicited to be present at these
meetings, as we trust much good may be
jlone ere these meetings close. And m:iy
the Lord bless our people, and draw them
by the sweet influences of his love and
Spirit to the House of God ! is the sincere
prayer of a Member.

A Musical Convention is now going
on at Mount Zion Camp Ground,” i;i this
county, seven miles from Griffin. A numbea
of delegates, or attendants, were expected
from different portions of the State,
snd e-pccially from the upper, or Nor
thern part. It will remain in session
for several days more, at least till to morrow
afternoon. They meet, and sing,as we learn,
on the good old fashioned, soul-stininir, and
piety-enlivening system such singing as
was in vogue in the days of Lang Sync, when
oar "rand mothers, and grand fathers joined
in with the Mercers, and Wesleys, and
Waddells, hymning their praises and adora
tions, not with pomp or form, but with the
heart and the spirit.
We invito particular attention to the
advertisement of Messrs. Seymour, Johnson
»fc Cos. They hive one of the largest stocks
of Groceries and provisions in the city of
Macon, which they are offering for s.Vc, at
the lowest cash prices. They afo at the
orner of Cherry it Third, streets immedi
ately under the Journal it Messenger office.
Give them a call when you visit Macon.
The card of .'lesrs. Little, Smith it Cos.,
of Macon, Ga. will be seen under the head of
new advertisement. We can testify to the
fact of their having a very extensive stock
from having visited the liou<c. They have
an immense quantity of Saddles, Harness
Trunks, and everything in their line of bus
iness. We give it as our opinion, also that
they will sell on as good terms as can be ob
tained ot any other establishment.
The Rev. W. A. Hall, late of New Orleans,

Ito" Andrew T. Stewart's (of New York)
income is larger than the annual salaries com

governors of all the State, Senators and Con

such an income Mr. Stewart could pay the
entire expenses of several State govern
