afternoon for stealing a tide on tbe
Central passenger train, was tried yet
teiday before Judge Beck -and plead
guilty. The judge sentenced him to
work upon tbe county roads for 35
days.

Bicycle Thief Caught.
George Cooper, colored, rode into
the city yesterday on a bicycle which
he offered for sale at |5 00. The par*
ties to whom he tried to sell the ma
chine suspected that it was stolen and
reported the matter to Officers Gordon
and Phelps yr ho arrested the negro.
Cooper claimed when arrested that
he lived near Pomona, and came by
the wheel honestly, but after spending
a abort while io prison be confessed
that be had stolgnjt from Jim Carroll,
of Elberton.
e The officials at Elberton were noti
fied of the arrest and will come after
the prisoner today.
