George Allford, a negro brakeman
on the 11:30 freight between Atlanta
and Columbus, and claiming Molena
an bia borne, waa knocked from the
top of a freight car yesterday by the
Poplar atreet bridge, and inatantly
killed.

Aa the train pacaed under the laat
bridge, Allford aeemed to bare forgot

with hia back to tbe engine looking
toward tbe cab, when tbe bridge atruck
him in tbe back of tbe bead, knocking
him orer between two care. Hie com
panion grabbed at him, but falling to
eatcb him, saw him fall bead foremoat
upon tbe track between the can, and
inatantly killed.

the arm waa horribly mangled.
George waa a good workman, and
liked by the entire orew, wbo regret
