Tke Proteaaor’a Conundrum.
“Professor,” they said, “give us a
deep metaphysical conundrum. ”
“Well,” he said after a moment’s
thought, "when is ‘which’ ‘what’?”
They gave it up.
“When it is neither,” explained the
professor.
And when they had studied it out
they understood.—Chicago Tribune.
Crete has lost through political dis
turbances of recent years olive trees to
the value of $10,000,000. It will take
40 yean to restore the orchards to full
bearing condition, and in the meantime
200,000 Mohammedans and 800,000
Christians will have to starve.
In Australia spring begins Aug. 90;
summer, Nov. 20; autumn, Feb. 20,
and winter, May 20.
There are said to be fewer suicides
among miners than among any other
class of workmen.
