Last Thursday morning a strange dog
was seen on the Ab, Moore place in
Pike county, acting iu a peculiar way.
No attention was paid to the animal, at-d

Mountain Green’s place, and this time
he was evidently mad. He came upon
a very tine so* which had eight or ten
pig*, but did r.ot notice the hogs until
the sow ran after him, when he turned
and bit her very badly. The hog was at
once killed. The dog was a spotted one

River.

Oar Oldest Canal.
The oldest canal in America is for sale.
It is called the Union canal, and extends
from the Schuylkill river, near Heading.
Pa., to the Susquehanna first at Middletown.
The route was surveyed in 1702, but
the canal was not completed until 1827.
It is eighty-nine miles in length and cost
