Capt. W. A. Seale has secured
the contract for furnishing the
cross ties and the lumber for the
trestle work^for the new railroad.
All day long Sunday the road to
the new railroad was filled with
carriages and pedestrians, going
out to see the new railroad. The
people here take a great interest
in its being built.
A wagon loaded with cotton
passed through town Monday last
going to Americas. The building
of the A. P. A L. Railroad has al
ready lmd some offeot on the move

Mr. Lott Warren, agent at the
depot,and Mr. C. C. Stone, assis

The drill arrived from Macon
yesterday, and work was resumed
on the artesian. Many are expect
ing water to lie reached in the
next hundred feet. Last week a
stream was struck that brought
water up to within twenty feet of
the top.

with the assistance of his ten year
old son Terry, he amputated the
negroe's hand nnd foot, cutting oil

the heel of the foot Oil.
The next morning a Recorder
man went down with the doctor to
see how the man was getting along.
He was perfectly rational, and was
somewhat better than he had been
during the night. He begged the
doctor “for God’s sake not to let
me have so much misery,” meaning
that lie wanted large doses of mor
phine. With the poor care that
negroes give to tiieir sick, the doc
tor Is afraid it will be a hard strug
gle for tiic man to puli through.
