The Queer Flight or a Rooster.
There is a deep well In the yard
of Mr. Nat Croft of Colquitt county,
the bottom of which is pretty badly
caved. During the present dry spell
the water has gone down below
the level of the cave, which
is ten or fifteen feet in diamater,
and eight to ten feet from top to
bottom. A few days since the old
gentleman missed his favorite roos

chicken crow, but could not deter

Mr. J. H. Black, Sr., having
iirchascd the “Clark mill,” near
Magnolia Springs, has thoroughly
refitted it putting in new machinery
and wheel, and is now prepared to
do custom grinding on tbe most
favorable terms. We were shown
three erodes of Hour made by this
mill, and they will compare favora
bly with any sold in this market.

Amateur Bane Hall.
Saturday last the Mill Creek
Club, out near Gatewood’s, played
the Sand Hill Nine, from down
about the river, on their grounds,
a few miles from this city. The
Tbe Creek club is composed of
small boys, while the Sand Hill
nine has a good number of large
ones. The Creek club wus victor
ious by a score of 32 to 47.

tion met at Smithville on Sunday,
and was largely attended. It was
estimated that there were lrom
1,500 to 2,000 people present.
