Saturday, that Capt. Tom Pickett

the following particulars of the af
fair. When Piekett was announced
as a candidate to tbe legislature
Cbeevea went and told him be

he would have to withdraw his sup
port from him. Piukett told him
all right, if he was that kind of a

Snide Show.
John B. Doris' show, that ex
hibited in this city on Monday,
was thc poorest show that has
exhibited in Amerluus for many
years. Tho menagerio wan a com
mon stock concern, with not a
single new feature in it. There
were a couple of good acts in the

mon-place. Tho whole establish
ment seems to be run on the Cheap-

The Long Drouth.
Flint river is lower than it has
been since 1855. In the fail of 1855
Mr. Huegenin drove a pine post in
thc river down to where the water
bad receded. A few days ago the
water again went down to the same
point, exposing the post. As a
mark for future reference another

that It can almost be waded across.'
