A short time ago E. O. McCormick, gen

Hamilton and Dayton road, arranged for
through car service between Cincinnati

line. The run is made in nineteen huurs.

Richard Puckett, a well known con
ductor on the ismlsville and Nashville at

has been running on the lsmisville and

for twenty years, hut his mind begun to

The Big Pour people, since inheriting the
forty-five miles of the old C., S. and U.

steel rail laid, bridges strengthened and a
good deal of reballasting done.
The Wabash road’s proposed connection
from Chicago to Detroit only requires the
building of 152 miles of road, from Chicago
to Montpelier, from which point it has
main line connection with Detroit of nine

than the Michigan Central by forty miles.
The New York, Lake Erie and Western

HOW TO KEEP HEALTH.
“The Fast Mall."
A production of unusual magnitude
will be given at the opera house this
evening. Lincoln J. Carters superb
scenic melodrama “The Fast Mail ” As
its name indicates, It deals largely with
the railroad in its incidents, but It pre
sents an abundance of effects that are
daring in their magnitude and admirable
In their execution. The steamboat is
said to be a wonder of clever conception
and masterly mechanical work, and the
railroad scene, with its trains' going at a
terrific rate of speed, makes the stage
seem like a piece of reality. The Ni
agara Falls scene is wonderfully beauti
ful, and it may safely be said Is more
elaborate than anything of the kind ever
before attempted In this city. There are
a multitude of minor effects that con
tribute to make the performance a reve
lation of realitm. The whistles, bells
and splashing are heard as the boat
leaves the wharf. The sounds that tell
us of an approaching train herald the
approach of the freight and the fast mall
train—the latter rushing by with people
gazing from the window at the heroine
who has just saved her lover’s life by
fastening a letter to the mail pouch.
The roaring of Niagara Falls is heard,
and the mist that rises from it is shown
vividly. The play is under the personal
direction of L. J. Carter, the author.
The cast is said to bo a capable one.
The play is startling at times in the In
tensity of its climaxes, and these, when
presented with all the effects of the in
tricate stage settings, bring the interest
to a degree that is rarely attained even
In tho melodrama. A large number of
people are employed in the production,
which is in many particulars plainly tho
result of care and skill combined.
The Courts.
The remaining courts of this term In

Notwithstanding tho threatening as

country people flocked to town in great
numbers to take In Rentz and Co.’s cir

and tho other chores done In time to get
in and see the parade at 10 a. m. Bigger
parades there have been, hut that of this

the two bands blew as vigorously as they
were expected to, and the elephants,
camels, ponies, eto., deported themselves
with becoming dignity.
The open air exhibition after the pa

A good size audience witnessed the

We want every mother to know that
croup can be prevented. True croup
never appears without a warning. Tbe
first symptom is hoarseness; then the
child appears to have taken cold or a
cold may have accompanied the hoarse
ness from the start, After that a pecu
liar rough cough is developed, which is
followed by the croup. The time to act
is when the child first becomes hoarse; a
few doses of Chamberlain's Cough Rem
edy will prevent the attack. Even after
a rough cough has appeared, the disease
maybe prevented by using this remedy
as directed. For sale by W. C. Russell.
