IT’S THE TRIMMINGS OF A MAN'S OUTFIT
THAT MAKES HIM APPEAR WELL DRESSEO
The eight negro prisoners who cut
their way to liberty out of Sumter's
strong castle Friday night are still at
large and hot, footing it to otherclimes,
in all probability, while the real man
ner of their escape appears to be as
much a mystery now, as at first.
The most plausible theory is that one
of them secured a key to the cells.
Suspicion to this effect rests upon
Tom Glover, a thirteen year old negro
boy who, while a prisoner, did some
service about the corridors, and might
have secured a key to the cells.
The prisoners were in small cells,
opening into a large cage, which is well
secured by a massive steel door. As
all the prisoners came through this
door, afterwards closing and locking It
behind them, the key theory holds
strong.
Gaining the corridor, it waa easy
work to out three small bars protecting
one of the windows.
Through this the eight prisoners
crawled to a coal shed at the east end
of the jail and Jumped to the ground.
Three prisoners, George Burnett, Fate
Northon, the harness thief, and a white
tramp declined to go with the others
and remained in their cells.
The names of the prisoners who thus
got away are as follows;
Will Williams, four years, Albert
Williams one year, Tom Adams five
years, Hill Frazlor twenty months, Jim
Baldwin one year, Tom Glover ten
months, George Harris ono year, Cleye
Westbrooks ten months.
Bill Williams and Tom Adams wore
stale felony prisoners, while the six
others would have served on the coun
ty gang, having been convicted during
tho past weok. in addition to his term
of Gvo years, Adams had 10 months
additional for gaming.
Sheri If Bell is making a thorough In
vestigation into the wholesale escape.
In the meantime a cash reward of $25
is olfered for each of tho escaping
prisoners.

JUDGE LITTLEJOHN TO PRESIDE
In Opening and Closing ol Macon
Court.
Judge Llttlqjohn will goto Macon
tomorrow monlng to alt at the opening
of the January term of superior court
In the absence of Judge Felton. The
same moment the session is thus con.
vened Judge Littlejohn will declare a
recess of a weok, by which time Judge
Felton will have returned to Macon
and will go on with tho session.
Tlio action of the city council In ac
cepting the proposition of Messrs Dod
son and Leroy Davidson * Co. for elec
tric frapeehise waa very generally dis
cussed yesterday, and the action of
that body will be fully ratified by a
vote of the taxpayers at the poUs.
For, while many citizens tavored the
other proposition, thinking it probably
the best, they will readily acquiesce In
the action'of council, and unite in mak
Ing Americus greator.
It will be a strong pull all together
for Americus.
Personal opinion and preference will
be laid aside when the Interests of
Americus are at stake, as at present,
and when the election for ratification is
called six weeks hence the good citi
zens of Americus will present a solid
front at the polls.
It will be tbe greatest victory fought
and won for Americus in all her hla
tory as a city.
At the next meeting ot council, doubt
less, an election for or against ratifica
tion will be called, to be held at an
early date in March. A two-tbirds vole
la required for ratification.
When this Is done, the new company
will get actively to work,
Tho statement is positively made that
every pound of the machinery now
employed in the electric plant here will
be loaded upon cars and shipped away.
Nothing of the old plant will remain,
as an entirely new equipment will be
p art-based.
The plant hero now would be wholly
Inadequate,undone soveral times larger
will be supplied.
Not even will the present buildings
bo used by the new company, but new
and modern brick buildings will bo
erected In an entirely different portion
of the city for a power plant.
Tho powor plant will first be erected
and fully equipped with new and
modern machinery for pumping water
and lighting tlio city and supplying
power for the electric railway. It is
expected all theso will be completed
within fifteen months.
Tbe company will give bond to do
thiswithin tbe time prescribed.
This proposition by Messrs. Dodson
and associates la the strongest,cheapest
and best ever offered Americus, and
citizens having at heart, the material
interests and advancement of their city
will work enthusiastically and unitedly
to tbe end of adopting It.
It means Groster Americus and great
er prosperity for her people.
GUARANTEED STOMACH REMEDY. I
Dor son's Drug Store W.|l Refund Mon
ey if Mi o-na Palls to Cure.
You may ask why it is thst Mi-o-na
stomach tablets are Sold by Dodson’s
Drug Store nnder s guarantee to refund
the money unless they cure, when no
other treatment for stomach troubles Is
sold In this manner.
The answer is simple and conclusive,
Othor medicines for stomach troubles
merely digest the food, while Ml-o-na
strengthens the whole digestive system
so that It soon becomes able to care for
all the food that la eaten.
If you do not use your arm or leg for
a month the muscles become flabby and
weak and you have to resort lo artific
ial help. It Is the same way with the
stomach muscles. If they are not used,
they become so weak that it is neces
sary to contlnne using a digestive with
tbe food you eat.
On tn* other hand, when you uae
Ml-o-na, your stomach soon grows ao
strong that you can give up the uso of
medicine.
Mi-o-na costs 50c a box and does
more real good than a dozen boxes of
ordinary digestive tablets. The proof of
this Is shown in the fact that a guaran
tee, absolute and unqualified, is given
by Dodson's Drug Htore with every box
of Mi-o-na. 10, 21, 31.
