EXCELLENT CURE FOR MENINGITIS
Remedy For Dread Disease Tried
With Success.
The Times-ltecorder re-produces here
with from the Georgian a remedy for
dread moningitls, so prevalent at this
season, and which is said to cure tn
nine cases out of ten. It is this: First
give the patient one or two largo enemas
—three or four quarts of water as hot as
the patient can bear; then wring a sin-
globed blanket out of boiling water
(keep ends of blanket dry to handle);
put one or two quilts on the bed; put
a pair dry blankets on thorn; spread the
hot blanket over this quick; roll the
patient on the hot blanket, cover the
patient quick with hot blanket; then
cover with dry one and so on w ith
quilts from neck to bottem of feet.
Put a cold, wet cloth to lioad, tuck the
cover around the body snugly; rewet
the cold cloth every ten minutes. Keep
the patient tn this pack, if comfortable,
one to two hours. Take him out and give
u good rubbing with towel, wet with
cold water; rub for five minutes; rewet
the single blanket In boiling water and
put him back In the pack for another
one or tnro hours. Repeat this for
twonty-four hours or until ho is con
scious. Continue with oncmas—three
or four in twenty-four hours; give id
nourishment for one or two days

ANNUAL INSPECTION
KNIGHTS TEMPLAR
GRAND OFFICERS COMING TO AMER
ICUS SHORTLY.
De Molay Commandery N<^ 5 Will Be
Officially Inspected on Wednesday
27th. Occasion of Interest.
Amerlcus is interested to a great ex
tent in kaolin, owing to the near prox
imity here of vast deposits of this very
aluable clay, and there is considerable
talk of the early establishment of
plant in or near Amerlcus for the man
ufacture of articles of daily use there
from.
Such enterprise here would pay hand
someiy, beyond doubt.
Hundreds of articles of daily use here,
and into the manufacture of which
kaolin enters largely, could be made
right here in Amerlcus more cheaply
than in New York or Ohio.
There are great deposits o 1 kaolin
within a miles of Macon, and a large
plant is to be established there by citi
zens of Macon assisted by Englishmen,
experts in kaolin working. It Is pro
posed to make the largest kaolin plant
in the entire South
China table ware ancf cheaper pottery
will be largely made.
It is believed that by the beginning
of autumn the plant wilibe in opera
tion. Considerable capital has been*
placed aside for the work and there
seems no question as to the success of Thousands FlOCk tO Metropolis Oil
l»c Molay Commandery. Xc
Knights Templar, will have its annual
inspection on Wednesday night, March
There are about twenty-five uni
formed Knights who will be in attend
ance, under command of Eminent
Commander A. G. Miller.
The inspection will be unade by the
following officers of the,Grand Com
mandery:
John II. Dickey, Deputy Grand Com
ander.
J. C. Greenfield. Grand Senior War
den.
M. A. Weir, Grand Treasurer,
ft had been proposed to ha.ve a ban
quet after the inspection, but as the
inspecting officers desire to leave on
the early train it has been found neces
sary to dispense with this social fea
ture of the occasion.
There are about seventy Sir Knights
the Commandery, scattered from
Oglethorpe to Miller. The annual elec
tion will be held on Good Friday
night.
CROWDS INVADED BUSY AMERICUS
Saturday.
Amerlcus has witnessed but one bus
rday since the Christmas season thlttl
was yesterday. The recent rains render
ed impossible all work upon the farms
and hundreds of farmers of Sumter
and surrounding counties came
town upon business bent. Thousands
of busy buyers thronged the streets
and stores, and merchants in every line
of business enjoyed this carnival of
trade. In many stores—especially those
of shrewd advertisers, the crowds of
buyers could scarcely be served. The
streets were blocked with teams from
the country, all of which carried out
full cargo of merchandise bought here,
If evidence were needed of the fact that
Amerlcus is the busiest and best trade
center in Georgia the close observer
was given i* yesterday. Just let
Amerlcus alone, and let it gfow during
DOT as it never has before.

ENDORSE VIEWS OF GOV. NORTHEN
Colored Citizens of Webster Praise
His Plans.
Times-R.cordor: Please allow
space to say a word of praise in regard
to a lecture delivered by Hon. XV
Northon ex governor of Georgia on
the law, and order of the citizens.
It was to the point, and we agree
with'htm on the race problem and the
solution of the same. It will take the
combined forces of the best citizens of
botli races to bring about the much
needed change in the South. It costs
too much to wait and be quiet and let
the horrible crimo be committed and
then hang, lynch, or barn the brute.
It is far wiser to stop the cause than to
try to right matters aftor the crime has
been committed. If there aro such
leagues established through Georgia
it will have » tendency to stop the
cause for lynching to a groat extont
