Traveling men are now setting up
the distressing claim that tho Georgia
and Florida w atermelon crop will be
short.
This Is the saddest news that lias
come in some time. It has been re
ceived with genuine anguish of soul,
nnd unless it is shown to be inaccu
rate by later information the good old
summer lime will be shorn of hair its
glory.
Americus is not heavily interested
from a shipping’stsndpoint, but from
the position of consumers it takes front
rank among tho anxious.
1 One man stated Hint lie lias traveled
overall Florida and smith Georgia and
that the chances are for a very poor
crop. The eantelonpe crop, which is
always an exceedingly profitable one,
will be short on acconnt of deficiency
in moisture and seed planted cannot
germinate.
