PAVING BUSINESS STREETS
Area That Should be Covered With Vitrified Brick
or Other Good Material.
The paving question Is one that will not down. Although temporarily
it may be shelved it will rise again as a prominent topic for public discussion
in the near frfture. The Times-Recorder gives below an estimate of the
square yards of surface In the streets In the business section of the city.
Opinions will doubtless vary as to which blocks should be paved, although
public sentiment Is'to the effect that eventually the entire business section
liould have Its highways Improved by the substitution of vitrified br'Iclf, or
some other good material, fov the present clay and sand.
The figures below were prepared by City Engineer Poe, at the request
ot the Times-Recorder, and furnish a basis on which estimates can readily

CLINCH FOR BROWN BY
FOUR TO ONE VOTE
Wiregrass is Solidly Lined
Up for Him.
In Americus yesterday were several
well known citizens of Clinch county,
here upon important business, and
they brought the usual gratifying
news of the political situation In
wiregrass Georgia. Clinch county,
these gentlemen Bald, would go over
whelmingly for Brown in the guber-
natorial race, or rather rout of the
administration. And the same condl-
tions prevail throughout that section
of the state. Clinch is In the lower
tier of Georgia counties and has large
sawmill Interests. which probably
more than any other has felt the
blight of stringent times, prevailing
for the past year. Chatham county,
it is said, wilt land a four to one
shot for Brown, whlje throughout
southern Georgia at
sections the lineup _
solid, and determined every day.

PRLSIDENT WALKER
SPENDS DAY HERE
Returns Soon Accompanied
by St. Ry. Builder.
President A.. N. Walker, of the Am
ericus Street Railway Company,
spent yesterday in the city In con
ference with Col. W. A. Dodson and
other representatives of the road.
Hie visit was without special signi
ficance, Mr. Walker having found
that he could spend a day here "be
tween trains." He was busily en
gaged all day on matters connected
with the new power plant
While here Mr. Walker stated to a
representative of the Times-Recorder
that he would return about May 1st
accompanied by the contractor who
will put down the street railway. In
a few days they will be able to de
termine the route of the lines.
President Walker expressed him.
self rb much pleased with Progress
on the power house, and said that it
would be one of the finest anywhere.
Us Bize considered. No wood will be
used except for windows and doors.
The foundations have been laid deep
down In concrete. v
Machinery will be on hand by the
time the power house is completed.
The street railway proper will be
begun as. soon as practicable, so
that it may be ready about the time
the power plant is ready to generate
Ute Juice. It Is estimated that the
as well as in other, street railway tracks Wn be . put
p is growing more down In sixty days. It Is probable

iteily located that work will be be
gun. Some of the machinery for the
new power house is expected
latter part of May.
