SIX THOUSAND 1$ PAID
FOR FARM IN SUBURBS.
Shockley Place is
Saturday.
Col. George R. Ellis pore turned yes
terday through the Southern Land
Co. the pretty suburban farm of Mr*.
Shockley, three mile* east of Amerl-
cu* on the Forayth street road. Th'a
pretty little farm coo tains only 125
acres, and the price paid for It, |C.-
000. U an excellent one.
Mr. Will L. English, of the Southern
Land Co., mad* the sale.
The Improvements upon tbe place
are not very considerable, a modest
country home, but the location, upon
0C9 of Sumter's One roads, is an ideal
cne.
Another sale of valuable farm prop
erty yesterday was that of the Gearg6
M. Harper place of 243 acre*. This
farm lies probably a dozen miles wait
of Americus, and the sale was made
to Emmett Hart, of Sumter, through
Arthur ft Westbrook, real estate deal
era here. —
Arthur ft Westbrook also sold the
Wiley Wlnsett farm, four mile* welt
of Amerlous, the purchaser being
George W. Ken more. Bqth proper
ties brought fln e prices,- though' the
figures were not announced.
The sale of the three farms above
mentioned, together with that of the
Xasworthly plantation at $20,000,
Mr. T. M. Lowrey, and ttie sale atsn
of the Mims and Hudson propertiii
to Mr. J. W. Hightower, ran the total
of realty sales yesterday above tbe
$50,000 mark.
And, best of all, every sale consum
mated reflected advancing values in
farm property In Sumter, so great Is
the demand.
