The most ferocious blind tiger cap*
tured in Americus In a long while
was rounded up Saturday by Sheriff
Feagin end Police Chief Barrow,
Underwood's saloon on Cotton avenue

rels of pint goods of about everv
drunk-making variety.
The eight barrels were filled with
pint bottles, all ready for the hand
out, and consisting of old gin, rye,
corn and other similar long-range bev
erages.

tomers, closed the doors and made a
careful inspection of the premises.
The eight barrels were all that could
be found, and these were loaded upon
a dray and hauled to the sheriff's of
fice at the courthouse for storage.
There are probably fifteen hundred
or two thousand bottles of liquor In
the eight barrels. 1
Mr. Underwood made bond In the
ram of $300 in this case and $300 In
another case developing against him
quite recently upon a similar charge.
HARROLD G. IS WINNER
IN BEST OF RACES
Track Tuesday.
As the best one of the several trot
ting events yesterday on the track of
the Americus Driving Club "Harold
G’took the race over True Tucker In
the best two in three half mile
dashes. Both are Americas horses
and the race was attended with much
interest
There were several minor events,
but the sprint between these two
steeds was the event of the day, Har
old G’s wining race being made easily
in 1:11.
The races on Monday and yesterday
alike were Interesting, and while only
Americus horses were entered In the
several events the fact that good
horses ars owned here was well
demonstrated. A fairly good audience
sitw the races on Monday, with good
attendance yesterday.
A series of spring races will he
arranged soon by the Driving Club.

that process because of the activity of
Mr. Taylor, W'bo Is backed by more
thin 90 per cent, of the property own
ers. and all of them have signed agree
ments not to lease their property to
negroes nor to white tenants who can
not furnish the highest references.

Even the skeptical people of the
country, who scouted the first reports
of farmers who were terrorized by
the sight of the beast, today are con
vinced that it was really a bn tram.
Eearly today the countryside was
roused and the chase renewed. After
an exciting hunt the animal was lo
cated In the heavy timber a quarter

the day the buffalo was shot and
killed by the posse.

ing figures concerning Infant mortality
were presented by Dr. J. H. Mason
Knox, of Baltimore, at the meeting of
the Monday Evening Club at the Cen
tral Young Men's Christian Associa
tion, Dr. Knox declared that 300,000
babies died In the United States last
year without reaching their second
year from ailments directly due to Im
proper feeding. This was twice the
number of deaths from tuberculosis,
and a third the number of deaths from
so-called vlrtulent diseases.
Dr. Knox urged a general effort to
wipe this awful record from the na-
tfon'a mortality tables.
