Piedmont Community Health Survey open
Atlanta - Piedmont
Healthcare, as part of its reg
ulatory responsibility as a
not-for-profit health system,
is currently studying the
community health needs of
the communities it serves for
its Community Health Needs
Assessment (CHNA).
As part of this interactive
process, Piedmont is inviting
the community to weigh in
via an online survey.
“Piedmont exists to serve
its communities and the
Community Health Needs
Assessment helps us to see
the areas in which our re
sources can make a positive
difference in the lives of
community members who
are most in need,” said Pied
mont Vice President of Exter
nal Affairs Thomas Worthy.
“We are excited once again to
embark on this process,
which helps us to deliver on
one of the most vital parts of
our mission.”
A CHNA is a measure
ment of the relative health or
well-being of a given com
munity. It's both the activity
and the end-product of iden
tifying and prioritizing unmet
community health needs,
which is performed by:
•Gathering and analyzing
data;
•Soliciting the feedback of
the community and key
stakeholders; and,
•Evaluating Piedmont’s
past work and future oppor
tunities.
Through this assessment,
Piedmont hopes to better un
derstand local health chal
lenges, identify health trends
in our community, determine
gaps in the current health de
livery system and craft a plan
to address those gaps and the
identified health needs.
This is the fourth Pied
mont CHNA, with the others
having been conducted in
2013, 2016 and 2019. The
2021 Piedmont CHNA will
serve as a foundation for de
veloping our community
benefit strategies and further
strengthening our community
work.
The survey, which opened
March 1 and closes March
31, can be found at

Do you love pets and also
love drawing? Or, maybe you
don’t consider yourself a
DaVinci but love pets enough
to give drawing shot? Either
way you’re in luck, because
the Pickens County Animal
Shelter is hosting its first
“Draw A Pet Art Contest,”
and anyone between the ages
of 0 and 18 are invited to par
ticipate.
“We are holding this con
test to bring the community
to our shelter,” said PCAS
Director Emily Bell. “We
would like to welcome
everyone to show them that
we have had many changes.
We want everyone to feel
welcome and change the neg
ative picture people think
when they hear the words
‘animal shelter.’ We thought
the contest would be a fun
way to incorporate the kids in
our community with the shel
ter.”
Participants are invited to
visit the Pickens County An
imal Shelter Facebook page
and select one pet that is cur
rently adoptable or was avail
able in the past and draw it.
Artists can create any back
ground they would like. In
clude “PCAS” somewhere in
the artwork and sign your
first name only on the bottom
right of the piece, which can
be created using markers,
crayons, pastels, watercolor
or acrylic paint, colored pen
cils, pen or ink. Entry forms
can be picked up at the shel
ter or found at www.picken-
sanimalshelter.com, and must
be attached to the
drawing/panting.
Entries must be 8 1/2x11
inches. They will be judged
by the following age groups:
Ages 0-5, 6-10, 11-14, and
15-18. They must be brought
to the Pickens County Ani
mal Shelter by 4 p.m. on Fri
day, March 11, 2022. Voting
will begin March 12, 2022
when artwork will be posted
on the shelter’s Facebook
page and also hung at the
shelter. The public will be in
vited to vote and winners will
be announced March 25.
Winners will receive a gift
certificate and special gift.
The shelter will also hold
a Happy St. Patrick’s Open
House on March 12 from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cookies
and punch will be served and
there will be a special “Lucky
Dog” adoption fee of $50.
