Compiled from a summary of incident reports com
pleted by Lamar deputies during the period March
3-9, 2021.
On March 3, Dep. Ashley Johnson met with a man
who lost his wallet while assisting victims of a traffic
accident on Hwy. 36 East near Morgan Dairy Road.
On March 4, Dep. Patrick Saunders was patrolling
Hwy. 36 East when he spotted a red Dodge Charger. A
computer check revealed the registration on the car
was suspended. Before he could stop it, the driver
evaded him with a quick turn onto Chappell Mil Road.
Saunders proceeded to Van Mar Blvd. and quickly
spotted the Charger again. He attempted to stop the
car which finally turned into the Waffle House park
ing lot near 1-75 and made a quick U-turn. The driver,
29-year-old Dazzmine Latimore, said he did not stop
earlier because he had been smoking marijuana.
Saunders spotted a brown leather bag on the ground
near where the driver made the U-turn. Latimore
denied it was his.
The bag contained the keys to the Charger. It also
contained two bags of marijuana, 11 sealed packets
of THC oil and a Glock 19 handgun which had been
stolen in Wilcox County.
While patting down Latimore, Saunders located ap
proximately $3,000 in cash. The cash was seized. The
car was impounded. Latimore went to jail charged
with suspended registration, possession of marijuana,
possession of a controlled substance, possession of a
firearm during commission of a felony, possession of
a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving sto
len property, tampering with evidence and littering.
On March 5, Dep. Bossie Davis met with a man on
Midway Road. A fence on the property had been cut
and access to wrecked cars gained. Nothing could be
identified as missing. Extra patrols were ordered for
the area.
On March 5, Dep. Davis worked a child custody
issue at a home on Cauthen Road.
On March 5, Dep. William Holt worked the case
of an unruly 13-year-old female at a home at Lamar
County Line Road. The mother of the child was found
hiding in a shed and reported she urinates in a sink
to avoid going to the bathroom located next to her
daughter’s room and being in the presence of the
teen whom she said randomly destroys property and
