LCSO INCIDENT REPORT SUMMARY
Compiled from a summary of incident reports
completed by Lamar deputies during the period Nov.
17-23, 2021.
On Nov. 21, Dep. David Waller was dispatched to
the parking area at city pond. Nichole Odom reported
she went to the reservoir to pull her sister’s boy
friend’s truck out of the mud where it had been stuck
all night.
Her tow strap broke which angered 58-year-old
Phillip W. Owings whom she said charged at her,
backed her against her vehicle and choked her. Ow
ings went to jail charged with simple battery.
On Nov. 21, Dep. Destiny Valenzuela spotted a
pickup truck with no headlights while patrolling Hwy.
36 East and stopped it. The driver, 24-year-old Pedro
Gracias, had no license. He went to jail charged with a
headlight violation and driving while unlicensed.
On Nov. 23, Dep. Ashley Johnson was dispatched
to 1308 Hwy. 41 South where a man reported he had
sent a S&W 9 mm handgun back to Smith & Wesson
for a firing pin replacement on Sept. 20. On Nov. 5, he
got a tracking number for the return shipment but the
gun was wrongly delivered to a home at 1038 Hwy. 41
South.
Johnson and Sgt. Jeremy Haire then went to 1038
Hwy. 41 South where Stacey Knight reported she did
not have the gun and did not know what the deputies
were talking about. Investigators knew that a female
signed for the gun. Knight said Jason Brown and
Vanna White also live at the home.
Later it was determined that Knight did sign for the
gun. She and Mr. Brown were told the owner of the
gun would not press charges if it was returned. Other
wise, they would be charged with theft by deception.
Mr. Brown later called the sheriff’s office reporting
the gun could be picked up at his residence. It was
retrieved and returned to the owner.
