‘Twas One Week Before Christmas’
The Lamar County Primary school Christmas program at the Fine Arts Center last week was a smashing success and
featured a cast of hundreds. This group photo shows about one quarter of the entire group onstage. The show was directed by
Tammy Anderson, Haley Brannan Turner and Hester Washington and featured first graders and members of the school’s drama
club.

Anita Morgan
Brannon
Anita Morgan Brannon age 43, of Barnesville, Geor
gia passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 at her
residence.
Anita was born in Griffin, Georgia on August 9,
1978. Her father, Ernest W. Morgan Jr. preceded her in
death. She formerly worked at
Upson Regional Hospital.
Survivors include her sons,
Casey Brannon Jr. (McKaylah),
Morgan Brannon (Ashley),
Christian Brannon Ross; her
mother, Shirley F. Morgan; sis
ters, Geraldine Knowles, Kasey
Nicholson; brother, Wesley
Morgan; several nieces and
nephews.
A graveside funeral service was held Thursday,
December 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Camp Memorial
Cemetery, Fayetteville. Pastor Heath Miller officiated.

Mr. Michael Lyn Smith, 62, passed away on Mon
day, December 6, 2021 at Webstar Spalding Hospital.
Michael was born on Tuesday, April 7, 1959 in
Griffin, Georgia to Robert Smith, Jr. and Melinda Bass
Smith.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, and
his loving wife of 35 years, Wanda Smith. An avid
outdoorsman, Michael loved
to hunt and fish as often as
he could. He adored all of his
grandchildren and was a pro
vider for his family.
Michael is survived by his
children, Michael Lyn Smith,
Jr. (Maranda), Joshua Smith
(Ashley), and Ashley Cauthen
(Antonio); 12 grandchildren; 1
great-grandchild; mother, Me
linda B. Smith; brother, Robert Smith (Vickie); sister,
Rhonda Merritt (Mitchell); and a host of extended
family also survive.
A graveside service for Mr. Michael Lyn Smith
was held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021,
at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor
Alex Johnston officiating. The family greeted friends
and loved ones on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Williams-Westbury Funeral
Home.

on Greenwood Street in Barnesville GA
for the past 14 years or so. The lady to
whom I rent from is selling the house.
I have a lot of health problems and I
do Dialysis 3 days a week. If anyone
would be interested in buying the house
and continue to let me rent from them, I
would greatly appreciate it. I would love
to not have to move.
