BILL BRIGHAM
for Committeeman
I HEREBY
that I am a candidate for the important office of Democratic Executive
Committee member for the Donalsonville District in the September 12
Democratic Primary.
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT OFFICE
because the Democratic Executive Committee selects pollholders for state
and county Democratic Primary Elections. It supervises the Primaries
and has the responsibility of seeing that every ballot is'counted correctly.
It notifies the public of all pending Democratic Primaries so that prospec
tive candidates will have ample time in which to qualify. It secures and
prepares ballots for all Democratic Primaries.
I SEEK THIS POSITION ON MY OWN
I am not the candidate of any political faction in the county or state. I
have no political ambitions other than this office, and if I should ever
decide to seek another office, I promise that my first act will be to resign
from the committee. I do not believe that a candidate for office should be
on the committee which holds the election. I am a veteran of World War
II and a member of the Air Force Reserve. I am a member of Friend&hip
Methodist Church, the Lions Club, a graduate of the University of Georgia,
and a lifelong Democrat. I operate my own business and will be available
at all times.
In Asking for your vote and support
I want to promise that I will personally see to it that all elections under
the jurisdiction of this office are conducted in a fair and impartial manner.
Persons seeking public office will need only to qualify. It will not be neces
sary for them to get the approval of some “clique”. I solemnly promise
that ariy citizen who runs for any office in a Democratic Primary will
receive and have counted for him every vote that is cast in his favor.
THIS IS IMPORTANT:
As far as I have been able to learn, no candidate’s name for this office
will appear on the official ballot. A place will be provided for write-in
votes. If you wish to vote for me for the reasons I have listed here, you
must write the name W. E. Brigham or Bill Brigham on the blank line
at the bottom of the Sept. 12 Ballot.
Your vote and support will be appreciated
I will also appreciate your comments and suggestions now and after I
am elected.
