—What do you think of a candidate who is
not only too stingy and penurious to announce

Tragedy at Hazslhnrst
We are informed that on Saturday last, B. F.
Wilcox shot and killed his uncle A. J. Wilcox, ,
at Hazelburst. Appling county. The difficulty
grew out of a justice court lawsuit about a cow.
The deceased was a prominent merchant of
Hazelburst, and both were highly respectable j
citizens. The slayer is still at large. It is ]
Said that he is desperate and that the citizens ,
are afraid to tackle him.

seldom lets a week pass without telling a long
snake storv. His lastest one is of a party
killing 25 rattlesnakes in a few hours. His I
snake stories arc generally characterized by
more hard cense and earnestness than all bis
editorials combined. — JtalUoncga. Signal.
Take a green cymbling, scoop it out, fill the i
cavity with mud, put two hog-weeds to it for J
legs, cap it with a last year’s bird's nest, stick |
a cigarette in its mouth, and you have an editor ]
who is more capable of judging “hard sense” 1
when he sees it, than the brother who perpe
trated the above contemptible fling. And it
will look mightly like him, too.
—Last Sunday as our friend Wm. Pritcliett, '

the bridge over Little Oemulgeo, Just this Hide ,
of Lumber City, in his buggy, with a car load of ,
mules, which he had just received from Nash

way. Tlie entire lot, some 12 or 15 in number,
were precipitated into the river some twenty or I '
