Wov Cro«-Rib Tread Cord j
Discounting the “Discount” j
in Advance I
You don’t have to be a shrewd bargainer to get the bottom price on
the new Goodyear Cross-Rib Tread Cord.
Instead of listing it at a high price, to enable the dealer to attract you
with a so-called “long discount,” we list it as low as we profitable can.
You can see from the figures below that its advertised price is lower
than the net price you are asked to pay for many “long discount”
tires of unknown value.
We believe the average man would rather buy tires on this frank and
open basis, and assure himself a product of recognized worth.
The new Goodyear Cross-Rib Tread Cord is made of high-grade
long-staple cotton, and it embodies the patented Goodyear method
of group-ply construction.
In design, materials and manufacture it is a representative Goodyear
product, built to safeguard the world-wide Goodyear reputation.
It lias a different tread from the famous All-Weather Tread Cord—
a new tread with a deep, clean-cut, cog-like pattern—and it sells for
substantially less.
Compare there prices rsith NET prices you are asked to pay for "long discount ” tires

THE MONTGOMERY MONITOR
BCILOCH COANTY BACKS THE
‘CTLTCBE
That Bulloch County realizes the
value of the First Agricultural School
is evidenced by the hearty co-operation
it gives in building up that institution
A good illustration of this s the build
ing of a beautiful drive from the cam
pus gate to the main highway which
is now under construction by the
county road gang. This drive is
forty feet wide and built of the rand
clay composition that is used on
roads over the county. When com
pleted it will add much to the at
tractiveness of the school grounds.
Heretofore the school and campus was
ailmost totally obscured from the main
road by the woodland just below the
campus but the opening of the new
road will be a great convenience. Be
fore the beginning of school in Sept
ember the drive will be worked on
through the campus and the delight
ful ride through the school grounds
will bring many visitors to the Insti
tution. The Alumni Association of
the school seeing a good opportunity
for some effective advertising will
ereot a handsome signboard at the
end of drive next to the public
road telling passers-by the nature of
the school and of the work being done
there. Besides being a good advertis
ing medium the board will be a thing
of neauty as It has been designed with
the idea of adding to the beauty of the
campus. There are many other indi
cations at the school that this will be
one of the best years that the school
has ever had and September 4th. wiil
undoubtedly find a splendid attend
ance at the opening of the institution.

WEEKLY COTTON LETTER
By
Savannah Gotten Factorage Co.
(All inquiries promptly answered)
Following the August Ist reports of
the United States Department of Ag
riculture there was a lot of propag
anda circulated discrediting the Gov
ernment’s f.gures, and a wave of short
selling followed, forcing prices down
some 3c per pound. This played in
to spinners’ hands and they dropped
out of the market. But excessive
rains continued to visit the Eastern
section of the cotton beilt and there
was little or no relief to the drought
West of the Mississippi. “Bears” got
scared and started covering. Ex
porters who had sold cotton for Aug
gust shipment found it almost impos-.
sible to cover their requirements.
This combination force d prices up
rapidly and October futures touched
22.90 this morning.
Continuous rains have interfered
with picking and ginning, caus.ng re
ceipts to be lighter than last year.
Deports from reliable sources in
Georgia and portions of the Carolinas
are to the effect that unless the weath
er improves immediately we may ex
pect a yield no larger than that of last
season. It will be hard to produce
enough cotton to fill spinners’ requir
ements this season, therefore we re
peat that it would not seem advisable
to sell much if any cotton for less
than 25c.
