TO TOWNS ON THE ROUTE.
Atlanta Constitution.
Every town large or small, on the 950-
mile right-of-way of the All-Around-Georgia
Giod Roacs Automobile Tour, owes its peo
ple the duty of representation by one or
more entrants.
Already the forty-two entries come
from every section of Georgia, and stand for
every class of citizenry.
So that when the good roads cavalcade
circles the state, beginning with October
17, Georgians from every walk of life will
be keenly inspecting every town and city
through the tour passes—-making an esti
mate, as they go, of the enterprise of each
indidual community.
No town negotiated by the tourists will
care to write itself as lacking in the initia
tive essential to having one or more repre
sentatives in the procession.
Every community the 950-mile oval
touches boasts many good roads enthusiasts
and several automobiles. Logically, each
one of these towns, whether in the large or
small class, should be represented in the
tour in a manner commensurate with its
commercial importance and its receptivity
to the importance of the cause of decent
highways.
This circumnavigation of Georgia is to
be a publi :.ity caravan as well as an ocular
demonstration in favor of good roads.
The county that has excellent highways
and presents all the aspects of prosperity
will receive statewide advertisement.
And the counties and towns that are
represented on the tour by one or more en
trants will likewise receive state-wide ad
vertisement for alertness and community-
spirit.
It is with this idea in mind that the
conditions and qualifications were made so
reasonable as to encourage the smallest, as
well as the largest, cars, and to make the
i.inei-ary equally attractive for the amateur
and the veteran.
Many commercial bodies in the smaller
towns have already seen their opportunity,
and have officially entered one or more ma
chines.
There is no reason why every town sit
uated on the right-of-way should not follow
their example.
And this is not to mention the individ
ual citizens with cars, who will want to see
to it that their communities figure in this
co-operative movement for boosting Georgia.
The entries close next Saturday.
By that time, each one of the towns
and cities to be visited by the ’Round-Geor-
gia tourists should have sent in several en
trants!

Henry Johnson Is Now Locked
Up In Thomas County Jail—Too
Much "Booze” the Cause.
Henry Johnson, who shot and
badly wounded young Lonny
Hartsfield in Ochlochnee last
Wednesday evening, was arres
ted and carried to Thomasville
Friday morning and lodged in jail
Johnson claims he shot Harts
field in self-defense, Hartsfield
attacking him first. He has a
bullet hole through his leg. Both
men, it is said, had been drink
ing, which was probably the
cause of the trouble between them
Hartsfiel i is said to be bad off
and it is thought there is little
probability of his recovery. John
son is a married man, Hartsfield
is unmarried and about 20 years
old.
Baptist Church Notes.
The morning congregation was so
small at the beginning of the ser
vice that the pastor did not feel en
couraged to attempt the announced
special sermon, on Woman. In
stead, he preached on the violation
of the Second and Third “Com
mandments,'’ committed in “The
Passion Play.”—and he did not
“jump on the moving picture show”
for the reason alleged by some kind
friends.
At the church conference, which
followed the discourse, there were
two accessions to the membership
nnd the annual elections were held.
The following named persons were
chosen for the various offices de
fined: Phil Pouik, clerk; A. C.
Roddenbery, treasurer; Miss Bama
Richter, church and Sunday school
organist; W. B. Roddenbery, Sun-
8 day school superintendent; H. G.
Cannon, assistant superintendent;

sengers to the Association were also
appointed, as follows: John Shu
man, A. B Cooke, R. S. Rodden-
