SMILE
Smile and the world smiles with you;
"Knock,” and you go it alone;
For the cheerful grin
Will let you in
Where the "kicker” is never known.
Growl, and theway looks droury;
Laugh and the path is bright;
For a welcome smile
Brings sunshine, while
A frown shuts out the light.
Sigh, nml you "rake in” nothing;
Work, and t liQ prise is won;
For the nervy man
With backhono can.
By nothing bo outdone.
Hustle! and fortune awaits you;
Shirk! and defeat'is sure;
For there’s no chance
Of deliverance • !
For the clmp who can’t endure.
Sing, and the wdrld’s harmonious;
‘ Grumble, and things go wrong; ‘
And all the time
You nre out of rhyme
With the busy, hustling throng.
Kick, and there’s trouble brewing;
Whistle, and life is gay;
' 'And the world's in time
Like a day in June
And the clouds all melt away.
—^non.
Why not follow the plan recently
worked bo successfully in Valdosta
and have a tin can campaign.
Prizes were offered to the boys
bringinging in the greatest number
of cans. The aggregate result was
rather startling. One mosquito to
each tin can that was gathered in
that town would make a pretty
formidable mosquito army. Sup
pose somebody starts it here?
Boost for Grady Day!
Watch out for our “Oat Special”!
We have to admit that, we need
some better sidewalks to go along
with the White Way.
We expect to keep insisting that
you take those old awnings down
until you do it from sheer desper
ation to be rid of us. . Better do it
how!
Steady wholesome advertising is
the diet that builds successful busi
ness. This is not a wild statement
but is a fact that has been demon
strated over and over again in the
experience of the most successful
business men. It is our policy to
give our patrons the very best ser
vice possible. We expect to build
our success through service and
publicity. Give us your adver
tising in a consistent way and you
will not be disappointed with re
sults. “It pays to Advertise.”
We believe the Coast Line will
pave its part of Broad street with-,
in the fire limits. How about the
property owners here in town?
Gee! it would be mighty fine.
No better movement could be
suggested for Grady county than
that of a bond issue to build per
manent bridges. There is every
reason why it should be done and
we very much doubt if a single
sound reason can be given why it
should not be done. Grady connty
should not hesitate in this matter.
We will soon expend the amount
necessary to build good bridges,
and will still have no bridges if we
continue our present policy of
building more or less temporary
bridges.

It i? not among the impossible
things to have a viaduct oyer the
Coast Line tracks. Why not have
a commission to take the matter
up and see what can be done.
Sure it is that something should be
down with this dangerous crossing.
Serious accidents have been .very
qarrowly averted on a number, of
occasions. Let something be done.
Cairo’s success in the base ball
field is an evidence of what grit and
determination and push will accom
plish. This success can be dupli
cated in some larger fields to.Cairo’s
' very great advantage, if • only all
will take hold and push. Let’s
organize that Commercial Associa-
1 ion and then all push Cairo still
further in the lead. All we heed is
the proper, start. . Some ono take
hold of this matter and let’s 1 have
an organization of this kind. Some
of our active'young business men
have spoken to us of the necessity
for this, and we would suggest that
they be not a bit bashful about this
matter. Do not wait for the over
conservaties to start this move
ment. Pitch in and start the thing
and all the others will be glad to
join in and help.
