Colquitt Court in Session.
Moultrie, Ga., April 6.—Supe
rior court has been in session
here all this week, and some lm
portant cases have come up for
trial. Yesterday the entire day
was consumed in the trial of the
case in which the Moultrie In
vestment Co. were plaintiffs and
1 . H. Johnson and Mrs. T. H.
Johnson were defendants. Mr.
and Mrs. Johnson were lessees
of the Hotel Colquitt, and the
plaintiffs were suing for posses
sion of this property. The dis
pute arose on the length of the
lease. Verdict was rendered
late last night foi plaintiffs, and
the defendants gave notice that
they would appeal the case.
Building Notes.
The work of moving back
Poulk Bros.’ old store has been
finished.
The foundation is now being
dug out for the two new stores
and the dirt removed by means
of dump carts to the low places
just, in front of Baggett & Lewis’
warehouse.
The brick work will begin in
a few days, as soon probably as
the foundation is cleared, and
the buildings will go up rapidly
when once begun.
Protracted Meeting.
Protracted meeting is now in
progress at the Methodist church,
the opening service being held
last Sunday morning, All
through the week two Services
have been held daily, one at 4 p.
m. and one at 7:30 p. m. A pe
tition was circulated asking all
the business houses to clos from
4 oclock till 5 oelock in order
that all might attend services.
Practically all agreed to this and
for an hour every afternoon the
city is quiet. The meeting will
likely continue on into next week.
Rev, Reviere has asked for a
neighboring minister to assist
in the meeting, it is likely that
Sbmeone will come to assist
within the next day or two.
Every one is invited to take part
in this meeting and try to make
it of much good to the town.
Stores Consolidated.
Messrs. W. T. and L. G. Mer
ritt have consolidated their
stocks of goods and formed a co
partnership under the name of
W. T. Merritt & Co. The stock
of goods owned by Mr. L. G.
Merritt has been moved to Mr.
\
W. T. Merritt’s stand next to

in Atlanta for some months
taking a post graduate course
in medicine, has completed his
course and returned home. He
has secured offices over Dr. Wal

Justice’s Court.
Judge Barrow held the regu
lar monthly term of justoce’s
court for this, 753rd. district yes
terday. A number of cases
were sounded from the docket,
but for various reasons nearly
all were continued to the next
regular term. Several cases
went over through appeal to ju
ry by consent, leaving several de
cisions for a jury to make at the
next term.
A very pleasant entertain
ment was given at the hospit
able home of Mr. and Mrs.
Knowles, a few miles east of
here, last Saturday night.
Messrs. Fondren Mitchell and
Theo Titus, two Thomasvilleat
torneys, were attending court
here yesterday.
Mr. Kedar Powell tells us that
on his trip down in Florida, a
bout the proudest man he saw
was Hon. W. M. Harrell, Bain
bridge. And to tell the truth
Mr. Harrell has cause to feel
proud of the splendid race he
made for the judgeship.
