A. C. L. PAY ROLL
THE AMOUNT PAID OUT ON
MARCH 8th IN WAYCROSS.
It will be of iuterest to Waycrosi
people to loarn that tho pay roll of
the Atlantic Coast Line In Way cross
on Mirch 8th last was Just $40,000
greater than it was on the 8th of Feb
ruary. and this was payment for a 28
day month.
In round numbers the Coast Lino
paid out *o employes in Waycross on
last Monday $75,000. Of this sum
$25,000 was distributed in the now
sliopa by a special paymaster and the
remainder was handed out from tho
pay car at tho passenger station.
Tho company’s rolls showed that
there were just 450 men to draw sal
aries in \Vnycross th’an thoro were in
February, and tho February roll was
greater by a hundred moro men than
Chut of January.
According to tho rolls the Coast
Line’s expense for labor In Waycross
for tho 28 days of last month was
nearly $2,700 a day, Including tho Sun
days.
Since the making up of the pay rolls
for last month a number of new men
have boen put to work in the Coast
Line shops hero and every day others
are added. Tho indications are that
$2,000 a day for the 31 days In March
will not ho an overostlmatlon of tho
sum to be paid to Coast Lino employes
In Waycross on the April pay day.
And yet tho new shops of tho Coast
Lino here aro being operated with a
comparatively smnll force. Some of
tho deportments have not opened at
all as yet, whllo tho others aro operat
ing short handed with an almost dally
iucreaso of force.

Thero is a probability that a motion
will bo made for a new trial though
this Js not settled. Many who heard
