At no former trUl in this county
has their been shown so great inter*
est ns has been manifested yesterday
and toduy. The court room Is crowd
ed to overllowing and business is prac
tically at a standstill during tho
sions of the court.
Groat interest here centers in tho
personnel |pf |the Jury and this is
overshadowed only by the often re
peated statement that it was upon the
request of the defendants that Ini in
creased guard w.ts placed at tho Jail
and a heavy escort was provided to
guard llieir path to and from tho
court room.
Memories of the wave of high feeling
that swept through Jesup on tho night
of, and day following the killing are
Haiti to have prompted this request
It Is not believed that the father and
son would make any effort to escape
and while they uro out of Jail they are
not handcuffed.
Yet on the short tr»ps from Jail to

and three deputies who follow close
ly. At night an extra guard is placed
around tho Jail.

Judge Parker, before adjourning

ed t'ile Jurors about keeping, from any
discussion whatever of the case, and
told them not to road newspapers. Be
fore being taken In for the night the
jurors were taken tor a walk about
the Court House and down several of
the residence streets. Judge Parker's
lust ructions to the Jurymen are very
strict, and ho said ho Insisted upon
their observance He directed
members of the Jufy to report to the
court if any person attempts In any
manner to communlcato with them.
Just before a recess was taken W.
M. Harvey,' who qualified os a Juror
but was not accepted, was recalled to
the aland at the request of Col. John
W. Bennett. Col. Bennett stated that
1t had come to him that Harvey had
