Atlanta. Ga., Jan- 14.—Bather than
face trial on the charge of being a
common cheat and swindler Mr*. A.
B. Pinkston committed suicide at the
Fulton county tower. Self-destruc
tion was accomyilehed by tbe use of
carbolic add. She swallowed
contents of a three ounce bottle of
the deadly drug, and waa attempting
to empty the contents of another
bottle of the same size when ft waa
knocked from her band by a jail
trusty.
Mrs. Pinkston was hurried to tbe
3rady hospital where she died in
ten minutes after her arrival.
Mrs. Pinkston was arrested
Valdosta on a warrant sworn out by
J. E. Price of 303 Courtlaud street,
who is credit manager of Daniel
Bros., furnishing store. It is claimed
that Mra. Pinkston had secured goods
from that firm amounting to nearly
$90 In value for which, it Is said,
she had never paid. The suicide of
Mrs. Pinkston is the first that has
been committed at ihe tower in four
years. The previous suicide was a
whiten aii who hanged himself in his
cell and was found dead next morn
ing when tbe Jailor went to arouse
him.

Atlanta continue. Tbe latest is the
robbery of A. L. Candy, a stone-cut
ter, of 110 W. Tenth street, last, night.

forced Handy to get out of his buggy

ribbery occurred in the South Bou
