traverse the heart of the state, from
the eastern limit to the Tsnnessee line
and will pass through twenty or more
important towns and cities, including
I the capitol city, Salisbury and Ashe
ville.
The road Is to be located by the
state highway commission and the leg
j Mature will be asked to allow each
I county to appiopriate $30 per mile of
road, not ov;er this amount, from gen
eral county funds of the several conn-
I ties traversed.
A convention is to be held in Ra-

Bride of Distinguished Lineage.
Rome, Jan. 18.—Through a special
dispensation from the Church, made
necessary by the difference in the
rellgiona of the contracting parties.
Mias Gwendolyn Story, one of -the
moat popular members of the Ameri
can colony in Rome, today became
the bride of Captain Stuart* the mil
itary attache of the British embas
sy In this city. The bride 1« a Ro
man Catholic and the bridegroom a
Protestant.
The wedding Is the culmination of
a rojnantic courtship. It was only
last summer that the young persons
first met. Captain Stuart fell in love
at first sight, ao hie friends declare,
and never rented until he won Miss
lory’s consent.
Though born In Rome an a resi
dent here most of the time, the bride
of today is a thorough American. She
come of most distinguished lineage.
She Is a great-grand-daughter of Jus
tice Joseph Story of the'Supreme
Court, of the United States, a grand
daughter of W. W. Story., the poet
and sculptor, and daughter of Waldo
Story the sculptor.
