ported (aside from that supplied to
vessels in the foreign trade) was
about 23 million dollars; 20 years ago,

practically double that of 10 years ago,

Suggestion By Mayor Tiedeman.
gavansah, Ga., Jan. 24.—The sug
gestion made by Mayor Tiedeman in
his inaugural address yesterday that
there be appointed a non partislan
commission for the purpose of inves
tigating the various forms of commis
sions used lu other cities and recom
mending that to be employed in Sa
vannah attracted much attention ana

provision soon. The new city, council
is down to business all right and last
night elected the officers of the city
