Rose, the railroad detective who wan

Rose was acting as guard during
the recent strike of white firemen on
the Cincinnati, New Orleans and Tex

Dr. Mayer was called and cross exam
ined during which he sail that he did
not know of any one being benefltted
by taking caffeine beverages.
Dr. Allen K. Hamilton said coffee
was used for Insane patients In many
hospitals, the coffee containing on an
erago of 1 1-2 grains of caffeine to
the man. On cross-examination he
•eally never knew of any qne being
benefited by the ubo of caffeine-bear
ing beverages.
Dr. Hamilton testified that caffeine
beverages improved the mental pow
ers in efficiency, the only class suf
fering from Us use being neurotics.
Dr. Stuart B. Roberts, of Atlanta,
had examined Sfi persons, users of
c.( ca-cola and found no deficiencies as
the result.
