The registration books closed last

qualifying for the approaching city
elections.
Exactly twelve hundred and thirty
names appear on the registration
books, about thirty of that number
being negroes.
For the election last year for al
derman there was a registration
about eight hundred and thirty.
The registration books having been
closed, at a regular meeting of the
City Council to be held tonight a proc
lamation will probably he issued call
ing for a mass meeting of the white
registered voters of the city to elect
an executive committee to arrange for
the primary, adopt rules for same,
etc.
