Therefore, bo It resolved—

SQUARE DEAL, for both ric!

That In onlor to meet out exact jus
tice our City Government should be
Administered honestly, economically
und equitably. The Tax rate should
be ns low as possible consistent wifh
meeting tho needs for revenue, and
All property should be assessed alike.
We condemn all inequalities In as-
uatiments as rank favoritism, and
*Ud*o ourselfcs to an assessment
based on value not c/i ownership.
We believe that the Street Tax should
be made not to exceed 92.00 per an-
Aam. Returns of property by Tax
payers should be adjusted only after

the property.

bo aa low as possible consistent with
streets and throwing sand in the mid

from which no benefit is derived. Wo
stand for hard surfaced streetg and
for the Inying of good sidewalks for
the people who walk thereon.
Resolvod, III. That this organiza
tion stands for a ’’squaro deal” and
for PROGRESS, but It advocates giv

for a ppbllc library is apparent, and
steps should bo taken to secure one
without delay. All our eilemosynary
institutions should bo fostered and
aided, and especially do wo commend
the Kings' Daughters Hospital for its
noble work.
Resolvod, IV. That this organiza
tion stands committed to giving all
due encouragement to new enterpris

time bas come for tho city to own Its
City Hall, and favor the erection or
purchase of such building as will be
adequate to the needs of the city for;
the next decade at least, believing'
the aame to be conducive to economy
in public service, and for the better
management of city affairs. A cen-1

for ss early aa practicable; also tlioj
garbage of the City should be removed i
frequently, and cremated or other
wise disposed of so as not to menace j
the public health.
