Admiral Raymond Rodgers, a consplc
nous Aguro in the navy, was placed dh
tho retired list today on account of
age. Admiral Rodgers was bohi in
the District of Columbia and is a son*
of tho late Rear Admiral Raymond
Rodgers. After graduating from An
napolis in 1868 he served, for some
years on tbs European stations. Sub
sequently ho saw service with the
PaciAc fleet. From 1879 until 1883
he wns an Instructor at tho naval acad
emy and during the next *two
years he was connected with the Bu
reau of Navigation.
From 1894 until the beginnlflfc of the
war with Spain Admiral Rodgers,
then a lieutenant governor, served as
United States naval attache success
fully at Paris, St. Potersburg and
Madrid. Ho was on the battleship
Iowa during the naval operations in
Cuba waters in 1898 and was advanced
flve numbers for meritorious service
