THE B.&B. ROAD’S
FINANCIAL BACKING
The Mystery of Its Progress Is Being
Cleared Up.
The Brunswick correspondent of
the Savannah Nows, under date of
Tuesday, says:
“The mystery surrounding the
financial backiug of the Bruns
wick and Birmingham railroad be
came practically solved touight
when it became known around the
Oglethorpe that Robert Kuhn, of
the great banking house of Kubn
Bros., was in the city conferring
with President Machen, and had
spent the day in a special train
going all over the route.
“The presence of Robert Kuhn
today bears out the statement of
President Machen that the new
road was the beginning of a new
transcontinental route from Bruns
wick to San Diego, Cal., and many
tbiugs are clear that have mysti
lied the public heretofore.”

Curculio Has Never Been Known In
Charlton County.
Mr. John H. Stephens, agricult
ural and immigration agent of the
Plant System, has found a peach
growing section of Georgia where
the curculio, which has come to be
a set-back to peach growing, does
not exist. This section iB Charl

■has seen peaches marketed from
that county fer the past sixteen
years and has uever seen finer
fruit iu the South. He Bays he
has been told by citizens of Charl

miles from the St. Mary’s river
north, and twenty miles west, be
-ginning at the eastern edge of the
county, the curculio has never been
known.—Savannah News.

RESOLUTIONS OF CONDOLENCE
On the Death of H. E. McVeigh. Who
Died May 9.
Our hearts are mnde snd by the
relentless cycle of death, cutting
down one of our true and tried
brother knights. Sad was the part
ing with Brother Henry E. Mc
Veigh, but lie left us in full faith
and the exemplification of our
principles of true friendship, char
ity and benevolence.
Brother McVeigh was faithful
to his vows and a true knight, and
cherished a deep-seated love for
our order. We do not very often
appreciate the human sympathy,
which he possessed, but when eter
nal Bleep closes the eyes, and the
wnrin baud that clasps ours
nerveless and cold then we see the
shining of this immortal gem iu
man's character.
Brother McVeigh was beloved
not only by us but by all who knew
him by reason of his many virtues.
Let us not think of our friend
who is dead us separated from us
forever. He died victorious on
life's battlefield; he is safe and
awaiting us, when we shall all pass
in triumph from the heat of battle
to the conqueror’s rewards aud
eternal peace. Therefore be it
Resolved, That in the death of
Brother Henry E. McVeigh,Wake
field Lodge, Knights of Pythias,
has sustained a sad and irrepara
ble loss, for which our hearts are
sad; but we bow reverently to this
sad dispensation of a Divine Prov
idence, and we shall ever try to
emulate his bright example.
Resolved, That a
