Just call upon him at his old and well

pleasant excitement in our community

Mr. Editor: Several of your cor
respondents, very old and respectable no
doubt, seem to bo wonderfully exeroi/.ed
as to the origin of our Plantation Bit
thus. So lung as these Bitters are all
that wc represent them to be, we do not
know that it makes any diflorenco from
whom they come, or from whence they
originated; but for the information of
the public generally., and old Capt.
Wentz in particular, we will say that he
told the truth, and that these Bitters
originated in the West India Islands
—that many of the ingredients havo
been favorably used fi r over a century,
but that our combination of Calisaya is
entirely new, and nur own. Tho rum
and other materials are the same and as
your correspondent says, a bettei Bit

commend them particularly for dyspep

appetite, and in all cases where a tonic

OBITUARY
“Were Ibis frail world our final rest,
Living or and;, ing none were blest."
Died, at his former residence in Terrell
couny, Geo., January 15, 1869, Dr. Albert
Paris.
For 18 months the sul j-ct of this notice
had been a victim of that terrible disease.
Dropsy; suffering, at intervals during the
whole time, pains almost unheard of in the
annals of disease; for the envenomed shaft
that closed his ovlhly career was dipped in
mortal agony. During Iris long protracted
illness ire was sustained by cheerfulness and
hope entirely unprecedented. Long alter his
friends had entirely despaired of his recovery
he spoke confidently of his find restoration to
health. But thorp is a limit to human endu
rance, and his sufferings were too great for
humanity to bear. He often spoke ol death,
and always with the most perfect cjlmr.ess
and composure; without lear or dread, and
even without « regret, aside from bis mxiety
lo his faithful companion, who would, iti that
event, be loft to an uncertain fu’ure. The
approach of death under sneh circumstances
could but he regarded as a friendly visitation
Dr. Paris had practiced his profession in
the same neighborhood for 25 years, giving
unbounded satisfaction, and entirely without
competition. llin patrons will often wish for
his skillful and kindly mini terir.g hand. Il l
p'ajo as a physician miy soon be occupied,
but will never be tilled.
To her who has so 'ey, so fviihfully, aud
with such superhuman endurance, aud mui"»

wish, we would sav, “weep nots*B'e r ; vcrilv
thy reward is not far distant;” if the father
and his babes are in Ueavcn, the mother is
on the roaiJ; if thtee voices ate chami g
praises around the Eternal throne, tho fourth
will join the chorus. In this sore bereave -
ment we point to r.o earthly support, for there
is none, in this deep sorrow we offer no con
solation, for that would be mockery. But lie
who feeds the ravens when they cry, or
clothes the lilies of the field, will make bare
His artn in support of His promises. He who

Unveii thy bosom, faithful tomb,
Take tb’s new treasure to thy trust;
And give these sacred relics room,
To slumber in the dust.

Mapes' Super-Phosphate although applied late in the Spring, paid 75 per ct,

Dawson, Ga , November 28, 1868.
Messrs. Loylefs & Griffin— Dear Sirs: —The Mapes* Super-Phosphate of
Lime, purchased of you last Bpring, and applied to my corn the 18tb day of May,
after which time I bad a drought ol nine weeks, and I find, upon gathering my
crop, that it has paid me 75 per cent. If it had been applied earlier, it would
have been much better. W. D. MURRAY.-
Dawson, Ga., November 14th, 18#t
Messrs. Loylks* & Griffin, Agents;—l used 160 ponudt per acre of the Mapea Super-
Puoaphate of Lime on my cotton, upon land that bad been in cultivation for tbe past thirty
yean. I left rows in tbe field unmanured, that I might lest its properties fully, and the re
sult was fully 6 to 2 as compared, in favor of the Super-Phosphate. Cotton manured with
this fertilizer stands drought better than that unmanured. I am fully satisfied it generate*
moisture. I bad upon this cotton il weeks drought, and it stood it much better than that
uomanured. Would recommend two hundred pounds per acre. Ido not expect to grow
cotton again without it. N. W. BOZIBR,
Dawson, Ga , November 10, 1868.
Messrs. Lotlxss & Griffin, Agents : —The Mapes’ Super-Phosphate I bought

third more ootton than that anmanured. I would recommend two hundred

Messrs Loylins & Griffin, Agents:—l havo used one ton of tho Mapes Bu-»

give it a fair trial, but am satisfied it has paid mo. G. W. COLLEY.
Dawson, Ga., September 15, 1868.
Messrs. Loylf.sh & Griffin, Agents—l have used this year, Afapet' Super-

Dawson, Ga., September 15, 1868.
Messrs. Lovi.ess & Griffin, Agents—l have used upon my gardon Mapoa’

Weston, Ga., November 16, 1868.
Messrs. Loyi.f,ss & Grivfin—Gentlemen—Having made trial of the Mapea
Phosphate of Lime, 1 take pleasure in rocommendiug it to planters. Notwith
standing a severe hail storm in tbe spring and a long drought in the summer,
which injured cotton very much, the Super-Phosphate proved a perfect sucorss.
Respectfully yours, A. A. DANTZLER.
