A Fatal .lump.
On Monday morning, the engine
pulling thi' fruit train, when be
tween Waynesboro and Thomas’
station, some four miles below here,
broke a parallel rod, causing con
siderable noise, which frightened
Mr. F. Carton, the wood passer, who
sprang from the train, and falling
upon his head, broke his neck. The
body was taken aboard and carried
to Augusta the place of his resi
dence.

had two very light showers in town

corn crop is badly damaged by the
drouth, while cotton has been great

The coming reunion of the survi
ving veterans of the gallant, old
Third Heorgia Regiment, which is
to occur at Tallulah Falls on the !)th
and 1(111, of August, prox,, promises
to be the most pleasant episode in
the history of the old regiment
since the war. Nothing is being
left undone to make the reunion a
complete success. Commodore

The surviving veterans of the
Third Heorgia Regiment will have
a reunion on the !Uh and Kith
days of August, proximo} at the
Tallulah Falls. All the members
of Company A, their families, and
their friends and their families, are
cordially invited. Arrangements
have been made with the railroads
to charge three cents per mile go
ing and return free, upon a certifi
cate of the President of the Survi
vors’ Association. Hoard at the

that the inexorable demands of
business upon us will prevent our

Waynesboro ‘on the 1st and 2d of
August, prox., a grand festival will
take place, and visiting brethren of
the < irder may expect a gala time.
The Waynesboro Council has pre
pared a very attractive programme
which will be carried out as only
Waynesboroans know how to do
these things. Appropriate commit
tee-have been apointed and noth
ing' has been omitted to makelhe
stay of visiting councils a pleasant
