This is the last edition we sliali

while we have all (lie time urged
our people to give our county ex

portance seemed to us to deserve,
Ave wish to make a final ap ical to

better way to do so than place in
our columns the circular lately
issued by the officers of the Associa
tion, lie sure to read and ponder
it :
The second annual exposition of
the liurke County Agricultural
Association opens Tuesday the (>th
inst., and ends Friday the 9th of the
present month. This is a Burke
county enterprise, and will reflect
the intelligence and progressive
spirit of its people. Every one,
therefore, who has any county
pride, and interest in this effort to
develop its resources, should at f
least, by their attendance give en
couragement to the undertaking.—
The officers and directors of the
Association have exerted them
selves to build up this fair, and it is
now left to the people of the county
to write the verdict, success or fail
ure. In ante bellum days, Burke
ranked as the foremost county of
the State, both as to the productive
ness of her soil and the intelligence
of her planters. There is no reason
why this generation should not
more than keep up the prestige of
the past. The coming fair will give
utterance to the wishes and speak-
out the sentiments of the people.
The officers of the fair have spared
no expense in the improvement of
the grounds, and they have receiv
ed great encouragement from ex
hibitors from a distance. There
will be a splendid brass band on the
ground during the entire exhibit;
the young men of Waynesboro are
sending out invitations to the an
nual ball; there will be a fine dis
play of all classes of horses and the
race track has been put in lirst-class
order; the display of agricultural
implements will be large and
varied, and the whole display prom
ises to he extensive and entertain
ing. Let therefore, every good
citizen of Burke county show him
self on the grounds and by his pres
ence say that lie is interested in
the welfare of his county.

in love, and in her sourness is dis

fact is, she has been hopping

“got left.” ’Sper’ence tells us it is
impossible to reform an old maid

will lead off our other little niece,

my views on advertising:
The advantages of advertising are so potent
that It becomes indispensable to the success
of every business. There are so many methods
and ways of advertising that it is well to know
the best. 1 have experimented and tested
every kind, and am free to say the daily and
weekly press Is lneompurubly superior to all
ot hers combined.
I have reference to a continuous uninter

not answer; when an advertisement stops,
the wheels of business move slowly. To at

a funeral procession.
Newspaper advertising always gives life to
business, provided the advertiser fulfils his
advertisement by selling tlie best goods at
lowest possible prices, and dealing in no article
hut those that will retain old and attract new
patrons. If curiosity can be aroused by an
advertisement, It is a good point gained.
Integrity, euurteay, promptneaa, reliability and
liberality are the valuable elements in all
business transactions. These, with judicious,
liberal advertising, will ensure success. As
proof of its value I append a few among the
many testimonials:
